Amarilli - not keen
Belle - I prefer Bella if on its own but Belle is ok as an abbreviation of Isabelle
Amabette - not keen
Akiko - I only know Japanese people with this name
Lilibet - this is lovely
Amabelle or Amabel - someone I went to school with had this as her middle name and she was forever having to explain it. Mabel works as a nickname.
Amaluna - makes me think of Cirque du Soleil
Odette - this name always makes me think of the words 'odour' or 'oddity', neither of which are very positive
Alma - lots of different meanings depending on the origin. I'm not a huge fan of names that begin and end with a vowel but this is quite nice.

veeboo · 23/10/2020 19:23

Amarilli - Show me the way to Amarillo

Belle - fine. But in itself is a no for annabel/isobel etc

Amabette - no. Unless you aren't in the UK

Akiko no

Lilibet - Lily pad

Amabelle or Amabel - people will think you have misspelled Annabelle

Amaluna - no but I like Luna

Odette - good

Alma - by far the best in your list.

FizzingWhizzbee123 · 23/10/2020 21:51

Quite a varied list. I really like Alma. I know an Alma and she is the sweetest, gentlest person ever.

DramaAlpaca · 23/10/2020 22:10

Amabel (yes, it is a real name not a creative spelling) is the only one I like at all. People will inevitably mistake it for Annabel though, and it even autocorrects to that.

BookishZen · 23/10/2020 22:16

My favourites from your list are Belle, Amabelle and Alma, although I think all your names are great.

Please ignore the pp that called you silly. Unfortunately on this site some posters feel the need to insult OPs rather than just offer an opinion on names.

Doilooklikeatourist · 23/10/2020 22:23

Amarilli. Made up name

Belle Too beauty and the beast , I like Bella , or Isabelle though

Amabette Made up name , I like Anna Beth though

Akiko It's a name for a husky

Lilibet The Queens nickname as a girl , short for Elizabeth

Amabelle or Amabel. I like Annabelle or Annabella

Amaluna The name of a liquor ?

Odette Quite nice , unusual,

Alma , not keen

Tillygetsit · 23/10/2020 22:55

I've know an Amabel since she was 8 and she's grown up now. Its a beautiful old name that knocks spots off Annabelle and suits her very well. She's a very accomplished young woman and she has never been mistaken for Mabel.
She's known to her friends as Ama. Gorgeous name OP.

user1493494961 · 23/10/2020 23:05

I think Amabel is the nicest on your list, it's very pretty.

Nacomi · 24/10/2020 00:50

I also like:

Lila

Coco

Arabella

What do you think?

Amarilli - I don't like this. It looks incomplete, like it missing a letter from the end

Belle - very sweet

Amabette - i like it, it seems strong and somehow familiar even though I have never heard it before

Akiko - I LOVE this! I have a Chinese friend who chose this as her English name (although it isn't English, but lovely!)

Lilibet - I don't like this

Amabelle or Amabel - I don't like Amabelle as it seems... I don't know how to explain. Forced? Unnatural? Like you wanted Annabel but wanted something less common so went with Amabel even though it just doesn't sound at all right

Amaluna - I like this less than the others, too

Odette - lovely! Classic but also very cool! You could call her Ettie as a nickname which is cute.

Alma - love this! Beautiful, classy, international. Character in a lovely book I read recently.

Eleonorex · 25/10/2020 01:32

Thank you, some people here are quite nasty when they express themselves and there is no need really.

Ghosts2020 · 25/10/2020 02:16

Amarilli❌

Belle ✔️

Amabette just no ❌

Akiko no❌

Lilibet don't hate but not my fave better than the rest of the list though ✔️

Amabelle or Amabel huh? ❌

Amaluna luna maybe but hell no to that❌

Odette also reminds me of elderly women❌

Alma reminds me of old women❌

MikeUniformMike · 25/10/2020 07:04

Amarilli - no, looks made up and a plural

Belle - end.

Amabette - seems made up

Akiko - seems masculine or japanese

Lilibet - QIIE

Amabelle or Amabel, will be misspelt as Annabel/Annabelle

Amaluna Luna is too popular, so looks like a frilly version

Odette - ok, but not my taste

Alma - ok, but not my taste

FizzyGreenWater · 25/10/2020 16:14

If you like Akiko, what about Anouk? I really think you might have to be japanese to use Akiko but Anouk, while rare, is a bit more neutral. And, it doesn't have an obvious nickname.

MikeUniformMike · 25/10/2020 16:19

Anouk is french and is a nn for Anne

SeanCailleach · 25/10/2020 16:45

Amarilli - okay, nice

Belle - a blend in name - I know at least a dozen Bellas

Amabette - pretty, lovely sound

Akiko - I like this name. To me it looks West African and I guess it has a strong meaning

Lilibet - pretty, vintage

Amabelle or Amabel - nice but not as strong as Amaluna

Amaluna - I do like this, think it's really strong, possible favourite

Odette - classic Black name. May get nn Oddy and Oddity which is okay if you have an eccentric family.

Alma - it means "old" to me, but it is a classic name

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 25/10/2020 16:59

Amarilli - I have Tony Christie and Peter Kay singing in my head....

Belle - a lot of people like it but it's too Disney princess for my taste.

Amabette - I have to be honest Op, this is VILE. I wouldn't name a pet guinea pig this. Please don't lumber your child with it.

Akiko - is it Japanese? Nice sound. lovely if that is your cultural heritage. If you don't have the heritage it might be a bit weird.

Lilibet - nn of Elizabeth. Personally I would put Elizabeth on the birth certificate and use this as an informal nickname. It's a bit frilly to have as a legal name.

Amabelle or Amabel - yuk! see Amabette...

Amaluna - just sounds like a random bunch of syllables stuck together, rather than a name.

Odette - like it! Unusual. Cute on a kid and sophisticated on a grown-up woman.

Alma - nothing offensive about it but not my taste.

Whatthedoodle · 26/10/2020 07:34

I really like Alma.

I know the name ‘Amara’ isn’t on your list but it sounds quite similar to some you’ve picked, and i love that name.

SeanCailleach · 26/10/2020 09:05

Akiko means story or news in Igbo.
Ama means beautiful.

Are you Igbo? I think you'll get better responses if you tell people what language(s) the names are from. Saying Black African is somewhat vague.
