Maisie Rae or Maisie Rose?

DD1 has a classic first name but unusual middle name so we're liking the sound of Maisie Rae, but I do like Rose too.
What do you think? Smile

I like both. Maybe slightly lean towards Rae.

I have a Maisie Ivy. She gets called Maisie moo or moo.

MegaBloxRoxx · 21/10/2020 12:37

Of the two, Maisie Rose

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 21/10/2020 12:38

Maisie Rose- sorry but anything with Rae is a little chavvy imo

Sexnotgender · 21/10/2020 12:39

Rose is preferable.

Standrewsschool · 21/10/2020 13:02

Prefer Rose

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 21/10/2020 13:42

Maisie Rae. Maisie Rose is too Z heavy and quite harsh. I know some would Maisie Rae is too A heavy but it’s not harsh sounding.

sunflowers246 · 21/10/2020 13:51

Rose

(As a first name)

FizzyGreenWater · 21/10/2020 14:11

Rose. Rae is not nice!

emmathedilemma · 21/10/2020 14:23

Maisie Rose.
Rae is awful!

MikeUniformMike · 21/10/2020 14:35

Of the two Rose but it is a filler middle name. I'd use a stronger middle name, something like Rosalind.

Not keen on Rae - fine as a surname but not as a first or middle name.

grassisjeweled · 21/10/2020 14:37

Just Rose

diddlediddle · 21/10/2020 16:07

Does it have to be one of them?

Rose is every other child's middle name at the moment. It's fine, but just so so dull.

Rae is just a bit naff isn't it, loads of kids are called things like Lacey-Mae and Darcie-Rae. Sorry to say it sounds quite um cheap. Ray would be slightly better.

Sorry I also think Maisie is incredibly twee and not at all what a grown woman with gravitas would want as their full name...

if your first child has a classic first name won't Maisie feel a bit hard done by? Similarly if your first child's middle name is unusual won't your second child feel hard done by having an incredibly common middle name?

Are there no families names that you could use instead?

FizzyGreenWater · 21/10/2020 16:23

Have to agree with the above. If your first child has a classic name, then Maisie Rae or Maisie Rose is probably going to sound pretty lightweight by comparison. There's really not much to it...

DramaAlpaca · 21/10/2020 18:33

Rose is nice.

Maisie is twee, it might be cute on a toddler but not on an adult woman.

I don't like Rae at all.

Firebird83 · 21/10/2020 22:50

Rae is chavvy. It’s the new Mae.

GAW19 · 21/10/2020 23:16

DD1 is called Grace

Tbh, I have never heard of anyone with the name/middle name Rae Confused

I really don't like this whole having to name a baby thing haha Grin

TenThousandSpoons · 21/10/2020 23:21

Maisie Rose

Chocolatecake12 · 21/10/2020 23:26

My wonderful most definitely not chavvy 75 year old Auntie is called ‘first name’ Rae (as her middle name! It’s not a new name!

I think Grace and Maisie go beautifully together and Rae as her middle name is. Nicer than rose in my opinion
Good luck whatever you decide!

Enko · 21/10/2020 23:28

prefer Rose.

Do you call dd1 for Gracie ever? as Maisie and Gracie is very close.

LarkDescending · 22/10/2020 00:19

How about Rose for a first name? Lovely with sister Grace.

diddlediddle · 22/10/2020 06:26

Agree Rose is much nicer as a first name and goes well with Grace. A much more solid name than Maisie. What do you think OP?

Do you have any other name/middle name options?

Rae is chavvy I'm afraid, I can't think of a better way of saying it. Sure it didn't used to be, hence why someone's got a nice grandma called it. But it is now, sorry. Just because you don't personally know anyone with the middle name Rae doesn't mean it hasn't been overused in certain groups. If you love it then go for it, but being told things (facts or common opinions) you weren't aware of is part of why you ask for opinions on here, right?
