Baby boy names list help please

Finally pinned my other half down to talk through baby names for our little boy due in Jan and have formed a list which is by no means final but has names we both felt were possibilities. If you could give me your honest opinions please and any suggestions of other names you think we might like. Our first dd is called Josephine/Josie

Harry
Jamie (DH dislikes James so would be Jamie on BC)
Oscar
Robert (we will probably call him Bobby day to day)
William

Thinking of Patrick Douglas or Angus as middle name

Surname is easy going with most things two syllables.

Thank you all for the replies it is all very helpful for getting me really thinking about how I feel about each of the names properly!

I agree with a lot of you about preferring James on BC to give options of name as adult an in case he went/worked in states- would be my preference too but unfortunately he has a personal dislike for the name- bit gutted as seemed a perfect option for me really! I do still like Jamie on its own though so not ruling it out as a stand alone name.

Have added another to the list as well not sure on thoughts- Harris as first or middle name? Would Harry work as a nn for Harris or does that seem weird/are they completely separate names?

@igglypiggloo I know lots of adults named Jamie so I don’t really see an issue with it being used an an alternative to James. I like it!!

I’d say Harry and Harris are different. I knew a Harrison who was shortended to Harry though.

@dalmationsandcats There’s still a bit of a culture divide in Glasgow and the west at least. Not that it effects anyone in day to day life but seeing a name like William you automatically assume they’re from a Protestant background and Patrick a Catholic background. You’re either one or the other, it would be very rare to see both names together! Not that it matters and is not the case for everyone but it’s still the way of thinking here.

Harry - nice, common
Jamie (DH dislikes James so would be Jamie on BC) - Prefer James
Oscar - meh
Robert (we will probably call him Bobby day to day) - really don't like bob bob bobby. Just call him Robert?
William - nice, also like Will

Josephine is a great name. Congrats and good luck.

My DS is Harris and he is definitely Harris and not Harry. In fact I corrected anyone that tried to call him that. If I'd wanted to call him Harry I would have done that!

I'm biased but I think it's a great name. Especially if you're in Scotland (as are we). It's not overly common but not so unusual that people feel the need to comment on it.

Thank you for the ongoing replies! Yea I thought that was the case for Harris is quite separate from Harry - do love it as a name and is nice that it's not as popular Vs Harry esp up here it's not too unusual at the same time. I guess It appears I have a thing for names or nn from names that end in ie/y- which I guess probably pushes out William from the list then as not a big fan of Billy and certainly don't want Willie!

Feel myself leaning more towards Jamie I think at the moment and probably more Patrick or Douglas as mn
Going to reconvene with OH and see where his heads at. Probably not any different as don't think he's as interested/obsessed with this as me at the moment!

Love all your names excluding Oscer.. Love Harris as well, and I think nn could be Harry.
