I love both names but would prefer to be called Imogen. If however she was always to be called Immy, I think Bonnie is a better way to go.

Enko · 02/10/2020 08:19

I dislike imagen always have i just think its a harsh ugly sound due to this I would go for Bonnie I knew one when I was 9 and she had the happiest smile woild make you feel like everything could be conquered when she smiled.

Threeoleary · 02/10/2020 08:20

Imogen by a country mile! Bonnie is a dog’s name.

WiserOwl · 02/10/2020 08:20

Bonnie

Imogen is strange sound (to me)

strawberrysummers · 02/10/2020 08:26

Bonnie is a regional phrase and I have seen arguments about this on MN over the years Grin

To most of the country it means attractive. But it was originally used for complimenting babies who look better with a bit of chub. So yes, in the NW and parts of the midlands, saying someone looks ‘bonny’ means ‘fat.’ Those who don’t live in this area deny this vigorously. But it is.

ImaSababa · 02/10/2020 09:24

Bonnie!

Imogen is not a nice-sounding name, and Immy puts me in mind of a spoilt teen who goes to Bedales.

PattyPan · 02/10/2020 09:35

Imogen. Bonnie just doesn’t seem like a real name - it’s an adjective rather than a noun (bonny lass) Confused

LilacSloth · 02/10/2020 12:28

Imogen. I knew a Bonnie - she wasn't nice.

Hirewiredays · 02/10/2020 12:41

Imogen. My other boy calls our daughter Mimi!

user1493494961 · 02/10/2020 15:59

I prefer Imogen, agree with pp. Bonnie is too twee.

Ellmau · 02/10/2020 20:52

Imogen is lovely.

Bonnie is cute for a toddler, but I don't think works as well when the DC is older.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 02/10/2020 20:53

Imogen

BeanieB2020 · 02/10/2020 20:54

Bonnie

MimiDaisy11 · 04/10/2020 15:20

Imogen is a really nice name. Maybe because I'm Scottish but Bonnie as a name is just odd to me.

ScottishLassie91 · 04/10/2020 20:25

Imogen definitely. Maybe as I'm from Scotland though so I would associate Bonnie with people saying 'shes a bonnie wee lassie'
I dont think Bonnie is a name that grows with the person due to that x

finallychangedmyusername · 04/10/2020 20:51

Imogen is a goreous Shakespearean name.

Bonnie means pretty to me and it seems a bit childlike. I vote Imogen!

finallychangedmyusername · 04/10/2020 20:52

Gorgeous! Bad typo, definitely not gore-like! Grin

AngelicaElizaAndPeggy · 04/10/2020 20:58

What about Imogen Bonnie? Bonnie sounds lovely as a middle name 🙂

S111n20 · 06/10/2020 15:48

I prefer Bonnie

ElowenSmile · 06/10/2020 16:07

Imogen, don't like Bonnie at all sorry

MyNameHasBeenTaken · 10/10/2020 17:45

I know an adult bonny.
Short for bonita.
I think she has Spanish heritage.
But she is always happy and smiley and well, bonny.
Bonita imogen?
I love imogen and Immy.
Only put off naming dd imogen due to a dodgy association in the past

CormoranStrike · 10/10/2020 18:18

Imogen

Iknewyouwerewaitingforme · 10/10/2020 20:19

Bonnie. Don’t like Imogen and Imy has to be the most sickly twee NN around.

But don’t love either sorry....

GinWithASplashOfTonic · 10/10/2020 21:36

Imogen no contest

Lightningrain · 10/10/2020 21:49

I really don’t like Imogen. It just sounds unpleasant to me.

I don’t hate Bonnie but like others have said I don’t know that it would work as a teen or adult. I much prefer Connie.
