My elderly Italian neighbour is Valentina.
Beautiful name for a beautiful lady.
I have Italian friends, Carmella, Zara and Marianna.

I had an Italian friend at uni called Delfina. I loved her name so much I wanted to use it for a DD, but had boys

I have ten classes, most of whom are girls:
Do remember, like all names, there are classy and timeless ones (like Francesca, Alessandra etc) trendy ones that are still in themselves classical (ie saints) (Martina, Chiara) seriously old-fashioned (see list below- I wanted to call DD one of these because to me it sounds beautiful and everyone fell on the floor howling and said people called that are nuns Hmm etc etc.

Giulia, Alessia, Alessandra, Gaia, Adriana, Aurora, Ilaria, Ilenia,Silvia, Sofia, Martina, Chiara, Giorgia, Elisa, Claudia, Arianna are all represented a lot in my classes

Anybody called Carlotta, Rosalba, Paola, Giuliana, Antonia/Antonella, Luciana, Lucia, Mara, Diletta, Irene, Ivana, Luisa, Carola, Eleonora, Sonia, Carolina, Caterina, Carla, Giovanna, Elvira, Giuseppina, Carmela, Bianca, Maria and any derivative has been named after the grandmother and whilst loving their nan dearly, they also wish they'd been the second born girl.

Carmen is a derivative of Carmela. I have 3 and they're all Carmela on the b/cert.

Unique names aren't common here, but a few quirky ones I've come across include Viriana, Lorita, Verdiana etc.

Pietra has morphed into Piera over the centuries. It's really archaic.

Do remember the double L spelling isn't Italian except for Gabriella. Double consonants change the pronunciation- so Daniella (doesn't exist in Italian) would be 'ella" at the end with a short crisp e like "egg" while Daniela (the Italian name) is almost "yayla" at the end.
