Our top three girls names are Cassia, Marnie, and Aria. Which would you pick?

@daisypond I took your advice and looked it up on google (was just giving my honest reaction to the name not saying it wasn’t possible to find out how it’s pronounced) and I would say it sounds almost exactly like how Arya is pronounced most of the time in GOT.

Marlena1 · 28/09/2020 22:23

Cassia. Also love Cassie. Gorgeous.

ReeseWitherfork · 28/09/2020 22:24

I agree - it’s pretty much only Maisie Williams who seems to consistently call her character “Arya” as opposed to “Aria”.

SeanCailleach · 28/09/2020 22:35

Cassia is the spice often sold as cinnamon.
Very nice name, a classic.

Aria is musical and a lovely sound.

itsjakeandamy · 28/09/2020 22:44

Cassia - as long as it's pronounced Cass-ee-a not Cash's.
Then Aria.
I really dislike Marnie.

itsjakeandamy · 28/09/2020 22:44

Sorry autocorrect.
Casha

RunningWaterfall · 28/09/2020 22:48

Cassia or Marnie

Really don’t like Aria

Overseasmom100 · 28/09/2020 22:51

Love Cassia...quite unique and very pretty

AllTheUsernamesAreAlreadyTaken · 28/09/2020 23:25

Cassia

Really dislike the sound and of Marnie. It sounds nasally and whiny.

Aria is a bit common now (in both meanings of the word)

yoyoyooo · 28/09/2020 23:28

Aria is a hotel in Las Vegas.

Marnie would be my choice

Firebird83 · 28/09/2020 23:32

Definitely Cassia. Aria is trendy and Marnie is unattractive.

SeanCailleach · 29/09/2020 06:33

Marnie as nn for Marin or Marina.
By itself it sounds informal. I do love Marley or Marlie, which is similar sound.

Peachbubble · 29/09/2020 06:34

Cassia

MercyBodle · 29/09/2020 06:46

Cassia by miles. The only one of those I would consider.

Pinkjellies · 29/09/2020 06:57

Thank you for all your help! Cassia is our favourite!
Although it’s barely been mentioned, my husband isn’t keen on the Geordie Shore link with Marnie. I don’t really think it’s an issue as we don’t watch it but it seems a bit of a marmite name anyway.
I like Aria because it goes well with our chosen middle name Jennifer but am concerned about it dating badly. I’ve also never really seen Game of Thrones and wouldn’t want people to think that we chose it from there.

I like Cassia best.

CaffiSaliMali · 29/09/2020 08:34

Cassia
Aria
Marnie

Are you pronouncing Cassia as Cass-ee-ah or Cash-ah?

Cassie is nice too, could be used as a nickname. I also quite like Cassandra.

Enko · 29/09/2020 09:08

Marnie as the 3 I have known were just so lovely. I do love Cassia too

Pinkjellies · 29/09/2020 09:19

@CaffiSaliMali

Cassia Aria Marnie

Cassia pronounced Cass - ee - ah

I wasn’t aware it could be pronounced another way and don’t think I’m a fan!

Cassia is lovely!

ReeseWitherfork · 29/09/2020 09:48

I didn’t know Marnie had a connection to Geordie Shore... maybe I’ll change my answer based on that 😂

Cassia makes my brain go straight to Cassius, which is odd because I don’t spend a lot of time thinking about Caesar’s assassination. It’s a pretty name. It reads quite upper class to me but I don’t think that’s a bad thing!

Aria is a very pretty name but I know quite a few, and I do hear some weird pronunciations. I live in the south but a couple of people I know insist on starting our friend’s Aria with the ‘a’ sound northerners use when they say things like ‘bath’.

ReeseWitherfork · 29/09/2020 09:51

Apparently Boris Johnson has a Cassia. So I suppose it must be a bit upper class.

Or how everyone pronounces the "a" in Harry

That’s exactly it. Sounds like if you were to miss the H off the beginning.

Brighterthansunflowers · 29/09/2020 10:51

Cassia
