Practically perfect names?

Are Daniel and Anna the perfect names? I’ve noticed they get a lot of love on name sites — I’m just wondering if I should use them simple because they seem so beloved?

My current names are Charlotte, Lily, and Sabrina. I could add Anna, just not sure if I like it that much.

For boys, Alexander and Daniel are my top two right now :) But I’m edging closer to Daniel every time I listen to “Oh Danny Boy” Grin

Thoughts appreciated! ❤️

I think it sounds like Charlotte is the name for you op! Which I think is a lovely classic that you can't go wrong with. Unfortunately there's no such thing as a perfect name, traditional names are a fairly safe bet but then some people see them as boring- you can't please everyone! I totally understand how you feel though, it's such a responsibility and I have suffered massively with name regret - which has become quite obsessive.

I love Alexander and all nn. I like Daniel too but not too keen on Dan, but this is probably because of a bad association!

But, oh, I love Charlotte! I watched the clip when Charlotte dies in Charlotte’s Web the other day on YouTube and my heart just swelled because of how much I love the character and the sweet name 🥰 Literary names are my favorite!
Imagine how amazing it would be for a little girl to ask why they're called Charlotte and hear a response like this, it's delightful. You need a Charlotte OP!

I mean, I really don’t like those names so it’s a big fat no from me! I think boring, ‘classic’ overused names are far from ‘perfect’.

Lavendels · 23/09/2020 15:32

Of course there are no perfect names! Everyone has different tastes and 'nice' names become fashionable and eventually sound dated.

I really dislike Daniel.

Anna is ok but a little boring.

I like Sabrina best!

Enko · 23/09/2020 19:35

I like Daniel as a name but I also find it a very " safe" name. I have never liked Anna/Anne/Ann as a name I find them so dull and boring

Tillygetsit · 23/09/2020 23:14

I absolutely love the way Daniel feels in your mouth. I see it as a strong handsome name.
Might justbe round here but we are snided out with Alexanders. It's become the latest craze and tbh I'm over it.
Of your girl's names Sabrina has the most flair but then I have all your other girl's names in the family!

Thanks everyone! I am getting the feeling that every name has its downsides. And I appreciate those who sent love about having OCD — it’s a helluva thing. My partner and I haven’t decided how we’re going to decide the last name business, so I can’t answer that! ❤️

Anna is nice enough but boring. I don't like Daniel, I went to school with several and none were very nice.
Charlotte is lovely. Its a timeless classic that's feminine without being cutesy and has several possible nicknames.
Go for a name you love. You'll never please everyone.

StephenKong · 24/09/2020 18:54

If they're perfect for you, use them. How could they be perfect for everyone else?

reginafalange2020 · 24/09/2020 19:04

I've always really loved both Charlotte and Alexander and have used them both myself. I don't know what is to about the name Charlotte i just think it's one of the most beautiful, timeless and classic names out there for a girl

DipSwimSwoosh · 25/09/2020 20:11

Yes Anna is the perfect name. I can't work out why my Anna is the only young one I know!
Funnily enough though, my son is not called Will, which is the perfect boys' name.
So maybe all the parents had other reasons for choosing their names, like we did with ds.
My reason is that annoyingly he looked nothing like Will when he was born.

PoodleMoth · 26/09/2020 16:19

Love Sabrina but not keen on Anna!

EducatingArti · 26/09/2020 16:23

I know the most amazingly wonderful young Daniel so for me it is a 💕 name!

MsSquiz · 26/09/2020 22:38

@danascully96 my Charlotte is named after the spider in Charlotte's Web!

I really wanted a literary reference somewhere in my DC's name and DH vetoed all the obvious ones I chose - I didn't mention the spider reference until after she was officially named. But he loved the name anyway so he didn't need to know Grin

danascully96 · 26/09/2020 23:14

I absolutely adore Charlotte’s Web and the name is so lush and rich and wonderful. I can’t wait to dress my daughter up for Halloween as a spider one day (a cute spider lol)!

Also, I’ve realized that there is an accent difference (I’m American), so Anna has always seemed nasally to me because we have such nasally accents. I still love Anna because it’s faintly Eastern European, but it’s taken me a while to appreciate it. Charlotte and Anna or Charlotte and Lily would be a lovely sibset I think Smile

Now I’ve got to figure out what boy names I like as I’m a bit clueless on those Blush
