I love it. My niece is Beatrix, and it has special meaning for our family so it's even nicer.

Firebird83 · 19/09/2020 18:39

I like it, but I do prefer Beatrice.

sibbys · 19/09/2020 19:53

I met one Yesterday in my daughter's swim class and I'm just in love with it. My DP has to get on board though. I am kind of a Kill Bill fan so it's weird I haven't thought of it. I'm glad to see the positive response!!!

I love it!

DipSwimSwoosh · 19/09/2020 20:31

I just hear Beer Tricks

DramaAlpaca · 19/09/2020 21:34

I much prefer Beatrice.

Beatrix lends itself to the hideous diminutive Trixie, which is only suitable for one of those yappy terriers with a bow on its head.

OneKeyAtATime · 19/09/2020 21:35

Dominatrix. That s a no for me

Tillygetsit · 19/09/2020 23:11

Dd1's favourite doll is Beatrix due to Ms. Potter I think and she's adamant that her first daughter will be Beatrix too. She's little but Im going to encourage that train of thought in years to come! It's lovely.

itsjakeandamy · 19/09/2020 23:29

I really like it.

VenusClapTrap · 20/09/2020 08:52

Not keen

EhUp · 20/09/2020 08:54

I much prefer it to Beatrice and love the nickname Bee

badacorn · 20/09/2020 09:00

I love it, always been my favourite girls name.

Doubt I’ll be allowed to use it though, everyone seems to dislike it.

StCharlotte · 20/09/2020 09:18

@BalloonSlayer

I love Beatrice but Beatrix reminds me of the old fashioned way of feminising a noun. In Jane Eyre she refers to herself as an interlocutrix, for instance (as opposed to interlocutor has she been male).

The only version of this we currently seem to use these days is Dominatrix. Hopefully this wouldn't be an issue.

Not quite true. I use testator / testatrix and executor / executrix daily at work.
Merename · 20/09/2020 09:24

Like Beatrice better.

ImaSababa · 20/09/2020 10:13

The "trix" ending is off-putting. Hard-sounding. Beatrice is much nicer.

Beamur · 20/09/2020 10:18

I like it. I like both Beatrice and Beatrix. I think the'x' gives it an edginess.
Bea/Bee/B/Trix/Trixy all good nn's.
I may be slightly biased..

BalloonSlayer · 20/09/2020 13:50

Ah do you @StCharlotte ? Smile

So it's not only Dominatrix used these days then? Or Bellatrix? Grin

MercyBodle · 20/09/2020 13:51

I really like it.

FizzingWhizzbee123 · 20/09/2020 13:54

I like it. I like Bea and Trixie too.

TankGirl97 · 20/09/2020 14:01

We have one! She does regularly get compliments on her name so people seem to like it. She's accidentally been called Bellatrix more than once by other children (due to Harry Potter).

len1234 · 20/09/2020 14:04

I love it!

dementedma · 21/09/2020 19:56

Prefer Beatrice. My bilingual niece is Beatrice or Bea when here, but the lovely Bay Ah Treece or Bay-ah when at home.

Inkpaperstars · 24/09/2020 00:41

I like it and Trixie is a very cool nn.

Heh1991 · 24/09/2020 01:02

I love it! A bit feistier than Beatrice too!

wishing3 · 24/09/2020 01:14

Nice!
