DH and I both love the name Avery for a boy. I realise it’s a bit marmite so not especially looking for preference on the name. My worry is that although it is traditionally a boys name, the popularity of it as a girl name in the US will take over entirely. Very happy with a unisex name but I hate to give my kid a name that in 30 years time is the new ‘Hillary’ or ‘Leslie’ where men are almost laughed at for having a ‘girls name’. Thoughts?

Reminds me of sticky labels!

Though I prefer it on a girl, I think it's great on a boy as well. Go for it!

There's a boy Avery in my DC's class. Lovely name.

I grew up in the states and it was very popular for boys in the 90s, I don't know any female Averys - it must be a fairly new thing. I didn't actually know it was unisex, I'd just assume boy.

I think it sounds like a girl's name because it's similar in sound to lots of girls names.
People will often in life assume before meeting him that he is a girl. It's up to you if that's a risk you want to take.
Personally I like the name but I know my DH was dead set against feminine sounding names (I wanted Jesse for example)
I don't think it will be the new Lesley or Hilary because it's not popular enough. Having said that it might rise in popularity, hard to tell.
I think of you really love it go for it, but if you have reservations and another name you both like, maybe go for something safer. Good luck.

Not sure i would name a child after a make of weighing scales! As an alternative, you could try Salter?
