Really like the name Jaya for our little girl. Would be pronounced "jay-a".

Thoughts?

I like the proper pronunciation (rhymes with hiya). Jay-a is awkward and nms.

I love it but I know it to be pronounced to rhyme with Hiya also. I don’t hate it pronounced Jay-a.

It is to me an Indian name though. But I’m not one for being strict about appropriation. I think if you love a name you should be able to use it 🤷🏼‍♀️

Viletta · 12/09/2020 23:41

I like it! Can it be a nickname for a longer name

TinaTraybake · 13/09/2020 13:56

I really like it and I see it working rhyming with hiya or haya. If you like it go for it. I know a Jaye who is female but never met a Jaya. I think it sounds lovely

I dont personally like Jaya, someone mentioned Jayla, that I do like

HermioneMakepeace · 14/09/2020 05:32

I know a Jaya, but she is Indonesian.

VenusClapTrap · 14/09/2020 07:36

Beautiful name when pronounced correctly.

lljkk · 14/09/2020 07:50

I like it a lot rhyming with hiya

jay to rhyme with the bird is too long a sound in the name to sound pretty (to me)

ALLIS0N · 14/09/2020 07:56

It’s lovely if you are Indian and pronounce it correctly.

Otherwise no.

FizzyGreenWater · 15/09/2020 09:21

It's pronounced to rhyme with Hiya.

Please don't.

I know a Jaya of Anglo/Indian heritage. I think it’s a lovely name. It was pronounced to rhyme with the word layer. I can’t work out how you are wanting to say it though. Do you mean to rhyme with Jayay?
