What do you think of the name Rose- nickname Rosie

Too old fashioned?

What middle names would you choose for Rose?

I love it.. I’m also considering it!
It’s simple and unfussy but still feminine. Feels a bit more grown up than other floral names (daisy, poppy, etc).

Flossie44 · 09/09/2020 14:20

Beautiful

Sunshineandsparkle · 09/09/2020 14:21

Love it. I would pick something classic and quite long as a middle name. Something like Annabelle, Catherine, Elizabeth...

LittleTiger007 · 09/09/2020 15:20

Lovely name.

Rose Clementine

Really need to weigh it with the surname too. Make sure the initials don’t spell anything or that you can spoonerise the names to make anything awful like poor Shiloh Pitt. (I LOVE the name Shiloh but with that surname ... pile o sh** ... you get the picture.)
I went to collage with a Tess - lovely name, but her surname was Tickle. I kid you not.
Check all possibilities.

We have a Rose Amelia which flows quite nicely. She doesn't like people saying Rosie.

mogtheexcellent · 09/09/2020 15:27

Another one with a Rose hating DH. Despite the fact they are his favourite flowers and he is a keen gardener Hmm. It was my favourite name.

Theres a Rosie at DDs school. And DD has always called herself Rosie when she does pretend play.

MsSquiz · 09/09/2020 15:48

I know 2 Roses (both 5) and a Rosalie (under 1 year and gets Rosa)

I think it's a beautiful, classic name. Along the lines of Charlotte & Elizabeth

Thistlegirl4 · 09/09/2020 16:22

Rose by itself is a lovely name. Don't like Rosie at all, it's the ending sound I don't like.

Ellmau · 09/09/2020 16:58

Lovely.

I think a longer mn starting with a vowel, but lots of options after that:

Elizabeth
Eloise
Amaryllis
Eleanor
Isabelle
Antonia
Abigail
Adeline
Allegra
Aurelia
Ariadne

CaffiSaliMali · 09/09/2020 20:16

Rose is lovely, not hugely keen on Rosie, although as a child I wanted to be called Rosie.

I prefer Rosa to Rose but I do like Rose a lot. I love all the Rose names - Rosa, Rosalie, Rosanna, Rosalind, Rosamund and Rosemary.

I agree with PP that Rose names are mentioned on here quite a lot, so I can see them becoming increasingly popular.

Then again, Juliet gets a lot of mentions and it's currently ranked at 590 in England and Wales, so maybe they won't!

Rumtopf · 09/09/2020 20:33

I have a Rosina nn Rosie so of course I love it.

ShipshapeShore · 09/09/2020 20:37

There's a Rose in my class at school and she's an absolute delight! I like it as a name - pretty but unfussy.

PrincessLouis · 10/09/2020 13:19

Lovely Smile I agree re a long classic middle name eg
Rose Elizabeth
Rose Catherine

@yesterdaystotalsteps123 I totally agree re Annie Rose!!

itsjakeandamy · 10/09/2020 13:32

I love it as a fn.
I find it dull as a mn.
I like:
Rose Amelie
Rose Emmeline
Rose Annabel
Rose Olivia

micc · 10/09/2020 21:31

I think its lovely and classic. You cant go wrong.

Rose Louise,
Rose Amelia,
Rose Violet,
Rose Harper.

DramaAlpaca · 11/09/2020 02:13

Rose is such a beautiful name.

It's totally wasted as a filler middle name.

As lots of others have said, it needs a middle name with more than one syllable.

MercyBodle · 11/09/2020 05:28

Rose is lovely. Nickname Rosie is also lovely.

Not old-fashioned at all, but quite a current retro-chic name.

Rose Georgina
Rose Jemima
Rose Matilda
Rose Hermione
Rose Caitlin
Rose Genevieve
Rose Penelope

MonsteraDeliciosa · 11/09/2020 14:56

Gorgeous name.

sorryforswearing · 11/09/2020 15:33

I love Rosa. Imagine a sophisticated woman but lovely for a child too. Rose is much plainer.

Think same about Anna and Anne.

Viletta · 12/09/2020 23:50

Love it!!!
