Names to go with big sister's name...

Currently pregnant with DC2, still early days so don't know the gender but I'm obsessed with names generally and trying to get my mind off worrying about this pregnancy! 😂DD is called Madeleine Lily. Here are some names I like...

Willow
Florence
Ivy
Ariana
Matilda

Elliott
Theodore
Ronan
Harry
Joshua

A bit wary about M names as my name is Megan, obviously DD is Madeleine, surname is Martin, we have a cat called Milly and her cousins are Milo and Mia 😂🙈 it wasn't done purposely, but think it's starting to look a bit obsessive!

I LOVE Elliott for a boy and this was my boys name first time around, but a girl I went to school with and worked with for a while had a baby and called him Elliott last year, so I don't know, but then again I'm not friends with her and I don't see her any more so does it really matter?

Anyway, sorry for the rant... any more suggestions are welcome 😊 x

I like Elliott and Matilda. The M 'pattern' isn't a big deal. Who will really know the names of her cousins and the family cats?

beautifulxdisasters · 03/09/2020 17:02

I love Matilda but I wouldn't use it as you could end up with a Maddie and Mattie when they're older!

meganm94 · 03/09/2020 17:05

@whatausername it's more for her grandmas sake as she struggles with all the M's as it is 🙈

The post all addressed to the same initial could be annoying in the future.

Lord knows how the Kardashians cope!

I think I'd go for Willow or Florence for a girl. I definitely like Elliott best for a boy from your list- I wouldn't worry about your colleague using the same name. Second choice would be Ronan.

Twisique · 03/09/2020 17:29

My thought was Magdalena but its probably too many Mmms!

Whatabout Theodosia or Dorothea?

whatausername · 03/09/2020 17:33

@meganm94 that might not be down to all the Ms. My grandmother only ever called me by the right name first time once. And she was so used to calling me the wrong name she'd already shaken her head, said sorry and "corrected" herself by the time she realised she'd gotten it right 😂

Your other names are nice but very trendy. That might not bother you of course. What about Rowan, Laurel, Celeste, Iris, Daisy, Dahlia, Fern, Robyn or Sage (hippy but mainstream hippy) if you like nature-y names?
Or Felicity, Imogen, Talitha, Serena or Susannah?

SallySeven · 03/09/2020 17:43

I think of Iris alongside Lily.

Lydia
Thea
Harriet
Sienna
Hazel
Violet
Juliet
Alexis

Dominic
Reuben
Barnaby
Oscar

I'd definitely use Elliott - it doesn't matter at all about a former colleague whatsoever. They'll probably be flattered you also like the name.

Willow - love
Florence - love - always adored this name
Ivy - love
Ariana - too frilly for me somehow. I prefer the simplicity of Aria.
Matilda - love and love all nicknames

Elliott - use this one for sure
Theodore - love but very common
Ronan - I think it will continually get misheard for more popular names RoMan and RoWan which are both leaping up the top 100 way ahead of RoNan. There's also Rohan and Roan. Avoid.
Harry - love but quite commonly used
Joshua - really love this name and it's numbers have massively dropped in recent years so it feels really underused now
