I googled. It's a female World of Warcraft character.

I still don't know how to pronounce it.

Elsaletmyballoongo · 02/09/2020 19:34

Misspelt Lannister

MrsTerryPratchett · 02/09/2020 19:39

@FOKKYFC

Was Circe a nymph? She was certainly an enchantress/sorceress. Not sure. No, she wasn't particularly nice. She tries to turn Odysseus into a pig. That said - he wasn't all that great to her, either. I like it as a name, actually.
Served him right.

It rhymes with mercy yeh from got i kinda like it but unsure

MrsTerryPratchett · 02/09/2020 20:05

from got

Then it's Cersei.

NameChange84 · 02/09/2020 20:29

Your update makes NO sense.

Cersei from GOT? You are spelling AND pronouncing it wrong (sirs-eye, it doesn’t rhyme with mercy).

She’s a horrible character.

It does rhyme with mercy

It isn’t eye it’s ee. Ser-see

greybuttons11 · 03/09/2020 10:16

The reason why I spelt it cersey is to wee if anyone would mention got ! I don't like the character either not a big fan of got just like the sound of that name

Awful.

FizzingWhizzbee123 · 03/09/2020 21:15

My automatic pronunciation at first glance was Curse-y.

Too close to Curse. Not good.

Kirsty?

EriAndo · 04/09/2020 01:03

Don’t

Onestepup · 04/09/2020 01:11

Curse 'ee .... (curse thee). Bad idea for a name.

What about Cassie instead?

Catsup · 04/09/2020 01:23

If you Google Cersai it was a made up name for the character. And whilst she obviously wasn't holding qualities to aspire to! 😂 It's technically not a bad sounding name. Personally I'd be put off by the fact it has no basis in being an actual name, so it'll always be linked to the made up one. But then again I suppose every name had to have been made up at one point? I do think there's better names imho, but then again I also think there's far worse! I actually like how it sounds spoken and would look for something in a similar fashion if you like it. It's apparently based upon an ancient Greek name. There's some lovely sounding ones that aren't commonly used if you want to delve into them as an alternative.

Morfin · 04/09/2020 01:31
@PaulinePetrovaPosey, I like that. Was she a nice nymph? I have a book not yet started about her.
Is that the fairly recent publication? I really enjoyed it although she was a goddess

Catsup · 04/09/2020 01:49

*Cersei My spelling is also apparently pants 😳... I personally like Thalia or Xanthe.

greybuttons11 · 04/09/2020 09:39

Is the name Circe not prounounced the same

OP posts:
Tomatoesneedtoripen · 04/09/2020 09:42

try Mercy?

eggontoast2 · 04/09/2020 09:45

Poor kid would have to live their whole life with nobody knowing how to pronounce it.

WankyDoodleDandy · 04/09/2020 09:53

Nope. Whether you spell it correctly or not, I’d avoid naming a newborn after a (quite shocking) character from a trendy TV & book series...

Carouselfish · 04/09/2020 10:11

Cersei from GoT wasn't pleasant, but I bloody loved her!
I do like the name OP but it's inextricable at the moment.

Suzi888 · 04/09/2020 10:16

No I don’t like it and if it’s Cersei, I’d think you had misspelt.

I’ve seen a lot of Khaleesi’s...

Tomatoesneedtoripen · 04/09/2020 12:19

Or cece

MJMG2015 · 04/09/2020 12:22

No. Just no. Your child would have to live with all kinds of hassle & negative connotations.
