Too similar?

Already have an Eleanor. Are Eleanor and Alistair too similar? Eleanor doesn't get abbreviated (yet) but are we setting ourselves up for a lifetime of Ali and Ellie?

I do think they are a bit too similar, sorry.

Tillygetsit · 30/08/2020 22:22

The shortened names are too sing song. Sorry.

They are fine.
They'll probably be Al and Ellie.

This is what I was wondering. We will have no control over what they get called by friends but different peer groups do not necessarily a problem. And as you say they could be Ali, Al, Ellie, Elle, Nell, Nora at home or something completely different. I guess if I want to avoid the Ali and Ellie at home I can just jot call them that? I am thinking mostly of the shouting up the stairs to make them get out of bed teenage years tbh!

They are fine together

ChikiTIKI · 31/08/2020 09:52

The short and long names are both very similar sounding. Do you mind though?

VenusClapTrap · 31/08/2020 09:52

I think it’s fine.

badg3r · 31/08/2020 09:57

I don't think I do mind, I but we had two similar sounding names in our family growing up and it bugged me occasionally.

I quite like it! If you love the names, go for it xx

I thing it's fine. Alastair is a great name.
