Thoughts on my GIANT list

So many, am attempting to narrow down a bit. Am aware that some aren't hugely traditional and I'm totally ok with that.

To go with DS Rudy Gray Surname.

Any thoughts?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Ooh, I like your girls’ list! I have a few of them on my list too - Vida, Anouk, and Ingrid. All fabulous. We have Celeste as a potential middle name. I also like Coco. Vida Velvet sounds smashing! A slightly bonkers middle name is perfectly fine. They are rarely used, and much better bonkers than boring.

Your boys’ names aren’t to my taste, but I do think they’re all pretty exciting. Your lists made me smile.

GoingBackTo505 · 20/08/2020 20:47

Oh my goodness we have such similar taste in names! Even down to middle names!
My favourite from your girls would be Celeste Love or Coco Valentine. I love Winter as a first name too.
Love Apollo or Valentine for a boy.

nicky7654 · 20/08/2020 20:51

Clara is lovely but don't like any of the other names. The boys names arnt proper names to me.

Firebird83 · 20/08/2020 20:54

I would avoid Rafferty - Jude Law has a Rudy and a Rafferty.

bobloblawlawblog · 20/08/2020 20:55

Wow so many responses thanks! (I know my choices aren't to everyone's tastes so expected more of a bashing than have got tbh)

Hepcat75 · 20/08/2020 20:57

I'd steer clear of 'Coco Velvet'. Sounds like a lotion-infused loo paper.

bobloblawlawblog · 20/08/2020 20:58

Fair point about the hearts! I just keep hoping he'll change his mind on Ivo! I adore it but his best friend has that name (which I think is lovely, and is a portugese name which will reflect the babies heritage)

I think you guys are right we clearly love Valentine. I don't like Valentina for some reason, think is because of the Tina shortening. So Valentine or Winter for a middle name works for both genders I think.

I would use Winter for a girl but I HATE Winnie and it will get shortened to that knowing my luck!

OP posts:
AriesTheRam · 20/08/2020 21:00

Coco Valentine

bobloblawlawblog · 20/08/2020 21:01

Coco Valentine is amazing

OP posts:
ThePlantsitter · 20/08/2020 21:04

Don't do Valentine Valentine.

Also it depends on your surname because although these are lovely names if it is a prosaic English name like Wilkinson it will not work.

I do like Delilah Valentine.

bobloblawlawblog · 20/08/2020 21:06

Any more boy suggestions? We're clearly not as sure on boy names, both really like Atlas. I don't like Atticus simply after reading Go Set A Watchmen

BikeTyson · 20/08/2020 21:07

I like:
Alba
Clara
Ingrid
Serena
Cecile

Winter is the only I’d consider for a middle name.

I don’t like any of the boy’s name options, I think Ivo goes best with Rudy though.

bobloblawlawblog · 20/08/2020 21:07

It's a double barrelled English and Portuguese.
N-D

Luckily both really nice surnames

OP posts:
Ginfizplease · 20/08/2020 21:08

boys:
Rufus. Rudy and Rufus?

MaverickDanger · 20/08/2020 21:11

Coco Valentine or Audrey Valentine are my faves. You have some really gorgeous girl names, I can see why it’s difficult to narrow down.

Boy suggestions:

Kipling
Jago
Stellan
Griffin
Milo
Soren

ThePlantsitter · 20/08/2020 21:13

Atlas is nice but is a weight of expectation!

Arlo?
Inigo?
Charlie Valentine Double-Barrelled is a good name.
Django
Asa
Silas

bobloblawlawblog · 20/08/2020 21:14

Oooooo Audrey Valentine does sound amazing.

I'm clearly sold on Valentine as a middle name!

I love Rufus, DH doesn't!

OP posts:
janetmendoza · 20/08/2020 21:17

Serena and Opal are good. Sabina and Freda would be good. I don't think middle names are too important so indulge yourselves!
For the boys none I'm afraid, but if I had to - Rafferty

17caterpillars1mouse · 20/08/2020 21:17

Alba - pretty. I like it
Lux - not a fan, pretty sure it used to be a brand of bubble bath?
Vida - it's OK, I prefer some of the other names
Anouk - love it
Pearl - lovely
Dakota - not my style but I quite like it
Clara - lovely but not very unusual if that's what your looking for
Opal - love it
Valentine - I like, but on a boy
Lilith - I like it but dislike Lily and its likely to be shortened
Ines - pretty
Delilah - I like but I've met quite a few little Delilah's recently
Ingrid - love it, especially with nn Indie. It was on our shortlist
Coco - not a fan
Io - not a fan
Serena - pretty
Serephina - like it but prefer Serephine
Frida - like it
Sabrina - like it
Celeste - not a fan
Cecile - don't like it
Camille - pretty. I like Cami and Milly
Pandora - guilty pleasure
Scarlett - find it a bit meh
Audrey - lovely

Moon as a middle name - no
Velvet as middle name - its ok
Valentine as middle name - yes
Winter as middle name - yes
Love as a middle name - its OK

Boys

Atlas - I like it
Ivo - love it, also love Ivor
Valentine🖤 - yes
Ignatius nn Iggy - no not a fan, though I like Iggy
Cosmo - no, sounds like a nightclub name
Lucien🖤 - love it and considered it but thought it would have a lot of pronunciation issues
Indy - nice as a nn
Rafferty - love it. We also loved Rufus which is similar
Apollo - no

Levatrice · 20/08/2020 21:19

I love Vida! I also love Vida Valentine but I don’t know if that’s a bit too much

(not in a horrible way, just genuinely not sure if that would be the public consensus or not!)

bobloblawlawblog · 20/08/2020 21:22

I think Vida is a no with Valentine (pp yes totally got it from My Girl!)

OP posts:
sunrainwind · 20/08/2020 21:24

Clara is the only one that I like. The rest I'd never even consider. I do genuinely like Clara though.

CoddledAsAMommet · 20/08/2020 21:29

If you've ever read A Confederacy of Dunces, you'll steer clear of Ignatius.

What about Linus? I think it has a feel similar to some of your names but is very underused.
