I'm not pregnant and have a pretty solid top 5 girls name list for when/if the time comes, but I've been binge watching a series where one of the main characters is Bette and I've found myself really drawn to the name. Probably helps considering she's such a brilliant character too, but I really like it. To me it had a similar feeling to Anne. Betty would be cute for a child and Bette as an adult. What are your thoughts ?? I don't think I've ever met one irl.

Betty/Betsy have been gaining in popularity

Taylor Swift named a song Betty recently after Ryan Reynolds daughter it's lovely

Even though I know Bette is pronounced Betty I always think of it as Bet which makes me think Gilroy.

It unfortunately also lends itself to Sweaty Betty in high school.

Betty/Bette/Betsy and Beth are all diminutives of Elizabeth in the first instance. Go with the full name and play about with nicknames til one sticks?

Yes Betty is such a beautiful song. And so open to interpretation.

The Bette I'm thinking isn't said like Betty it's just "Bet" but you're right about Betty and Betsy. I actually know of two baby Betsys.
I suppose it's a bit like Anne in the sense there's lots of Anna/annies/Anabelle but not just Anne by itself.

I'd just use Bet.

I'd probably go with Elizabeth - there are such a lot of great nicknames, from cute toddler through cool teen to elegant adult.

And of course there's no-one more feisty than Bette Davis.

Bette Davis - but only oldies like me will make that connection
