Our top name for DD is Ava however it sounds very similar to my name Eve. Do you think it sounds too similar or that it doesn’t matter if parent and child names sound similar?

I don’t think it’s too similar. The lead vowel sound is different so I think it’s different enough. Both beautiful names.

You will use her name but she will be calling you dm anyway!!

A bit similar maybe. Just thinking of other old film star names, what about Greta? Marlene? Ingrid. Hedy. Vivien. Jean.

It's fine. Speaking from experience it's not an issue.

I think it’s lovely and not too similar..it might have been if it was Eve and Eva 😉

You will morph into "mum" / "Ava's mum" soon enough and for all the time she lives with you and you are together so do not worry about it!

They mean the same but are different enough.
I really don't like Ava though. It's nothingy and overused.

I think it would make my brain spin a bit to be honest, when you're trying to do ten things at once then similar names add to the confusion. DS name starts with F and my nephew's name starts with V and I always get them confused!

xMummy2princes · 19/08/2020 21:29

I think it’s fine

emptyplinth · 19/08/2020 21:30

It's fine for you but a bit of a tongue-twister for other people.
"I'm inviting Eve and Ava over"
But really people can live with it and they're both beautiful names.
