Arthur

Sophia (I would have wanted the old pronunciation of so-fye-a and it would have been a lifelong irritation for DD)

sunyla · 16/08/2020 12:27

Isabella, Mia, Ava, Ella and Ellie. Most of the girl names I like seem to be fairly common but these are a bit too common for me, though I love them.

Noah and Oscar were both vetoed as they became far too popular by the time our son was born.

KeeefBurtain · 16/08/2020 13:20

My oldest dd is an Amelia, shes 17 and I dont think it was as popular back then but I think I still would have used it either way as I chose it when I was 8.

I really love the name Albert, and would have considered it for 1 year old dd had she have been a boy, but, I dont have a lot of friends but they all seem to have an Albie in their family which put me off.

cantsaynotocake · 16/08/2020 15:16

My eldest daughter is Amelia. I thought it wasn't extremely popular when I had her and now there's hundreds of them, doesn't bother me though because I think it's a beautiful name x

PoodleMoth · 16/08/2020 15:36

Lola, Zoe, CeCe, Toby, Theodore, Eric

jessstan2 · 16/08/2020 15:58

I think Charles, Oliver and Louisa are timeless classics and wouldn't worry if they were fashionable. Fashions come and go but those are good, solid names unlike many.

Boys:
Alex/Alexander (close friend got in there first.)

Girls:
Sophie
Isla

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 16/08/2020 16:53

And forgot Noah, that was on the list

FizzingWhizzbee123 · 16/08/2020 21:41

Evie
Ava

Oscar

AuntyPasta · 16/08/2020 21:43

Isobel

PintOfGin · 16/08/2020 21:46

I love the name Olivia but I could never use it- just way way too popular!
I loved the name Ava before it was super popular aswell but I’ve gone off it now that it’s so common.

Standrewsschool · 16/08/2020 21:57

Charlotte - loves it since the book, Charlottes Web and didn’t know any growing up. Now too popular.

PaundryLouder · 16/08/2020 22:33

Another vote for Oliver & Ava.

newmum332 · 17/08/2020 07:48

Jack for a boy. We loved it but there are just so many of all ages.

Pippilangstrumpfie · 17/08/2020 10:50

There must be tens of thousands Jacks and Olivers out there...!

Twelve8Ts · 17/08/2020 15:22

Sophia and Eva

Minai · 17/08/2020 19:05

Oliver and Jack. I love both names but we have one of the most boring, common surnames so going for the top 1 or 2 names just seemed too much.

Mmr224 · 17/08/2020 19:11

Isla, although we did use Isabella as a middle name but it is a family name.

TinyMetalBirds · 17/08/2020 19:14

Jack. I would definitely have used it if it hadn’t been the top boys name for what seemed like decades. I’m actually not as keen on it any more! Funnily enough, even though it was so popular for so long, I never seem to come across any Jacks.

RowboatsinDisguise · 17/08/2020 19:22

@PoodleMoth

Lola, Zoe, CeCe, Toby, Theodore, Eric
Goodness I don’t think any of those are particularly popular! Lola maybe?
PurBal · 17/08/2020 19:51

Evelyn

catlikefi · 17/08/2020 19:56

Isla or Freya. Love them both but there are just so many around already....and Freya is getting more and more popular where I am.

kellybean18 · 20/08/2020 20:13

Ivy - really liked it but very popular now and so similar to other names like Ava/Evie/Eva etc

Also love love love Lily but it’s just everywhere.

I don’t have boys but I guess Noah? Lovely but again, lots of them around! Weirdly I’m not so bothered about popularity with boys names though I don’t know why!

Aahh99 · 20/08/2020 22:25

Olivia
Sophia
Were on our list but too popular put me off.
