Amazing, thanks so much!

For clarification I do mean the 'io' / 'yo' sound and then 'e' / 'y' at the end - so not just the end sound.

Niobe is perfect - I didn't know this one yet - thanks so much! Please keep them coming Smile

Only one I can think of is Calliope, though I'm sure there are others (likely other Greek ones).

ILoveStickers · 14/08/2020 13:50

Iona
Io (bit of a sad mythological figure though)
Viola (at least one way of saying it)
Iola
Iolanthe

joyyoj · 14/08/2020 13:55

Oh yes, Calliope is like that, too - thanks!

Dione

Ione (eye-oh-nee).

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 14/08/2020 16:03

Aoede, the muse of voice and song (before they upgraded from three muses to nine!).

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 14/08/2020 16:05

There's Antiope/Antioche too. I think Greek myths are your friend here!

Fifthtimelucky · 14/08/2020 16:09

I'd definitely familiarise yourself with the Greek myth surrounding Niobe before choosing that as a name.

florascotia2 · 14/08/2020 17:06

What fifthtime said; pretty names, but sometimes tragic or bloody myths attached. Here are some Greek names ending in the same sound as Hermione, but would be a good idea to check them out - and also their correct pronunciation - if you really want to use them. Splendid site for some of the mthological ones here: www.theoi.com/

Ariadne, Cybele, Hecate, Amphitrite, Tyche, Selene, Persephone, Ismene, Asterope, Merope, Kyllene, Aphrodite, Berenike, Ianthe, Xanthippe...

and also, of course, Daphne, Penelope, Phoebe, Irene, Thisbe (as in Midsummer Night's Dream)

And Astarte (though not of Greek origin)

Thymeout · 14/08/2020 19:24

Yes - please check the backstory of Niobe. She is known for crying a lot.

And Xanthippe was a shrew.

AdaColeman · 14/08/2020 19:35

Antigone
