There is something very appealing to me about this name and its one I have found myself coming back to time and time again in my quest for the perfect name.

But would you say its too close to coronavirus to be useable now? Or would you not link Cora to Coronavirus?
Would it be okay paired with a sibling with a name ending in "ah"? Or would you say they are too similar?
What are your honest opinions of this name too please?

Look forward to hearing your thoughts/opinions.

Many thanks.

I like Cora. I wouldn’t link it to the virus. I also like Cara.

Mummysgonetobed · 08/08/2020 22:37

I Only know of one Cora and think it’s a beautiful name and in no way makes me think of coronavirus.

SerenityNowwwww · 08/08/2020 22:38

Is it short for something? I have a slight obsession with very short names - mum and grandma had very short names and we all have crazy long ones, and I remember being convinced that their names were short versions of something that they just weren’t telling me about (I was only about 4).

summerloving2506 · 08/08/2020 22:40

@SerenityNowwwww Cora wouldn't be short for anything. I prefer short names.

Oh ok. I wouldn’t associate it with Coronavirus. I suppose it needs to sound nice with the surname.

BeChuille · 08/08/2020 22:46

I like it. Didnt think or Corona

WeEE · 08/08/2020 22:51

I have a Cora!
Still love the name. Her Sister's name also ends in an "a", so I would say not too similar at all x

ouch321 · 08/08/2020 23:00

Like Downton abbey

DramaAlpaca · 08/08/2020 23:57

I quite like it, as long as it isn't pronounced so it rhymes with apple corer, which is how it will be in a lot of English accents. With the 'a' pronounced, as it is in Ireland, it's so much nicer. The only Cora I know is an Irish teenager.

It's a name that's grown on me recently. It doesn't make me think of the virus at all.

I have a Cora too, she's 14 nowSmile I've only ever met 1 other Cora. I think it's unusual enough to not be too common but not so unusual it's a bit odd!

GreenRoads · 08/08/2020 23:59

It’s lovely. The right kind of classic plainness.

Commentutappelles · 09/08/2020 00:04

Would not associate it with the virus. Round here, it's either the name of middle women or a zillion under 5s.

FizzyGreenWater · 09/08/2020 00:05

Beautiful. Wouldn’t think of the virus at all - different pronunciation

CoffeeRunner · 09/08/2020 00:09

Absolutely would not make me think of coronavirus. Not at all.

It would immediately bring me to Cora Flange in Carry On Abroad however.

It is literally Cor a .......... There is potential for bullying right there.

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 09/08/2020 00:10

Could it be short for Coraline? Either way, it's a beautiful name!

Whatsyourflava · 09/08/2020 00:21

One of my favourite ever names. I really love it though never met one
Sounds like it willl compliment the sibling name well too

lobsteroll · 09/08/2020 00:24

Love it, wouldn't associate with Corona at all

Rachel247 · 09/08/2020 07:26

I like Cora. And wouldn't associate it with Coronavirus.

DasPepe · 09/08/2020 07:30

My DS friend is called Cora. They are 8 years old. I think it’s a lovely name and did not think of a Covid connection

OldFloweryCardigan · 09/08/2020 12:36

No Covid connection in my brain but it's definitely a name on its way up the popularity charts (if that bothers you). I know a couple of them.
