Is Aisha out of fashion these days?

I've just realised that it's been absolutely ages since I taught an Aisha (secondary teacher in a very large inner London school with a diverse intake). There always used to be at least one in every class, but I hardly ever see it on registers now.

Has it become dated? A shame if so, such a pretty name.

It doesn't fit in with the currently trendy names, but it is very pretty.

Yes, I guess it's just not trendy at the moment. I've had quite a few pupils named Anisa and Amina in recent years, which have a similar feel though - I guess they sound 'fresher' than Aisha to parents? They're all lovely names, mind you.

When I was growing up in the middle East is was an old women's nameGrin

I think it sounds lovely

In my school, which has a sizeable Muslim community, mostly from Nigeria and Somalia, there are a few Aishas, but it's more common among the mums.

I was thinking this the other day, I haven't come across one in ages. I agree, it's such a lovely name!

You're right, I have a few friends with that name but don't know any baby girl Aisha's. Strange it's a lovely name
