Is 'Avi' a girl name or boy name or animal name(Elephant, bird)? Please suggest.

I only know of one who is male (human). So I would say it is a name for a boy / man.

Like the pp though, I wouldn't balk if I met a girl called Avi either, but my first guess would be male and definitely human.

Avi, by itself, male (meaning father).

As a shortened form , it can go either way, though there are more male names that shorten to it (Avinathan, Avishai...) than female (Avigail is the only one I know of that's used often) so I'd assume male at first but wouldn't be entirely surprised.

I wouldn't think of it for an animal, but I think it could work - maybe for a bird.
