My DH wants to name our DD after his childhood dog Billie!! I said that that was crazy but the more I think about it it becomes less strange. My sister was named after our Great Grandmother and my Dad after his father. Is it weird??

But I am concerned about your husband's language - his "childhood dog" sounds speciesist and redolent of slavery. I would not have a child with this person until he has sorted himself out.

WTF?

I don't see anything wrong with saying "childhood dog", meaning a family pet dog that he loved throughout his childhood? Or am I missing something?

My previous neighbour's dd is called Alice.
After Alice in wonderland her dd thinks.
Its actually after Alice Cooper!! She hasn't the heart to tell her yet!!
Names come from all sources.
Not odd just be glad the ddog wasn't Sheba or Blaze!!

One of the downsides to given animals human names! If only we still called them Rover or Tiddles, this kind of dilemma would never happen. Wink
