Help please - which is better? I love old names
Archibald would be shortened to Archie for everyday but Archibald for later in life to give him more options..

Seth

PMTRex · 18/07/2020 19:37

Sorry but I really dislike the name Archibald- it's too 'old man' for me and the bald bit of it just reminds be of a bald head which is not what I'd want to associate my baby with!

Seth is lovely though, DS has a very cool friend skateboarding friend called Seth.

SpeedofaSloth · 18/07/2020 19:38

Seth.

MsTSwift · 18/07/2020 19:38

Seth is nice. Archibald will be yet another Archie...

SummerHouse · 18/07/2020 19:38

Seth all the way.

BrandoraPaithwaite · 18/07/2020 19:39

Seth.
Archibald isn't that nice a name in its full form and Archie is too popular, plus Harry and Megan just used it.
Seth is great.

InTheWings · 18/07/2020 19:47

Seth

TheMumblesofMumbledom · 18/07/2020 19:52

Seth was on my list for my son.

AnotherBiteMe · 18/07/2020 19:56

Archie is too common.

Seth all the way.

Peachbubble · 18/07/2020 19:57

Definitely Seth.

Shelby762 · 18/07/2020 19:59

@BrandoraPaithwaite

The Megan / Harry connection does not bother me in the slightest as it is a family name

Another vote for Seth.

I really don't like Archibald.

ChikiTIKI · 18/07/2020 20:08

Seth is such a lovely name with a great hopeful meaning. Choose Seth!

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 18/07/2020 20:16

Does it have to be Archibald can he not just be Archie. Im not a fan of Seth

Shelby762 · 18/07/2020 20:18

@Awwlookatmybabyspider

Purely just for more options later in life as people on MN tend to see Archie as a cutesy name where as to me it’s old man

villamariavintrapp · 18/07/2020 20:25

I don't really like nickname names, and would always say put the full name on the birth certificate. But, to me, Archibald doesn't really give any more options, because no one's ever going to use Archibald. So I suppose just go for Archie. Actually I like Archimedes better as a long version. But it's obviously a bit pretentious!

villamariavintrapp · 18/07/2020 20:26

Forgot to say, I like Seth-go for that!

Grufallosfriends · 18/07/2020 22:04

Archibald is definitely better than the cutesy Archie.

I'm not keen on Seth. It's hard to say and sounds lispy.

Enderman · 18/07/2020 22:26

I can’t imagine anyone would choose to go by Archibald rather than Archie.

NoMoreFlowers · 18/07/2020 22:29

Seth is lovely

Tillygetsit · 18/07/2020 23:06

Full name Seth Archibald Surname?

MikeUniformMike · 19/07/2020 06:33

Don't really like either of them.

howlat · 19/07/2020 07:15

Neither.
I thought this post was a windup!

If there's either of those in your family and you want to keep the tradition, then I'd opt for it as a middle (or second middle) name.

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 19/07/2020 11:03

Seth

MrsBungle · 19/07/2020 11:05

Seth. Archibald is highly unlikely to ever be used as a full name —because it is not nice—
