Would a royal baby being named the same put you off?
I do not want to look like a copy cat but the name Archie I have loved even before MM and Harry was married..

Am I being silly or would this bother you?

Love the name Archie. Royal baby wouldn't put me off at all, it's out of the public eye anyway.
Harry, William, Elizabeth, Charles, Charlotte, Archie, Louis and George all established names. I wouldn't associate with royals honestly! Use it, you love it and you'll regret it if you don't!
It's not like a name like "Boris" which is far more unique and associated with one person. Your Archie will meet other Archie's as it grows up. A baby Boris v likely wouldn't know of any other Boris apart from BoJo.

Not sure what you mean OP. I remember Archie in the soap, but it was Emmerdale Farm when I last saw it.

The name sounds nicer in a scottish accent, and the actor was quite dishy.

Lots of people like the name, I know of several dogs called it.

My DH wants to call a future DS2 (if we have one) George Alexander. I like it too but I’d be concerned people would think we’re huge fans of the Royal Family!

OneTooManyBathtimes · 07/07/2020 14:59

I called my daughter Charlotte. nothing to do with HRH but because I chose the name years ago and I refused to think of another one.

When my mum was pregnant with me, Diana was newly pregnant too. She was so worried that if it was a girl it would be Elizabeth or Victoria which were her 2 top girl names. She didn't want our names to date at all. She even reversed my brother's names to avoid the initials JR.

That said, if you like it use it

Not really a royal baby, now that H&M have gone off to their own life! Archie's sweet, but fancy having the word 'bald' at the end of a sweet name. What if they get prematurely bald? They'll get called BaldArchie!

dinosaurdee · 07/07/2020 15:21

You will probably get the odd comment or reference to the Royal Archie. If you're that bothered, I'd choose another name. Personally I dislike the name immensely!

Whatsyourflava · 07/07/2020 15:36

I know a little Charlotte would honestly never occur to me to ask if it's because her parents like the Royals?
The Royals deliberately choose fairly safe established names anyway. It's fine to use any of them. Archie is such a lovely name

Shelbe34 · 07/07/2020 16:09

My great grandad was actually Archie so that is our connection - glad to see the royal baby would not put so many of you off.
I appreciate it is not everyones idea of a nice name but my husband absolutely loves it as do I

If it was your granddad's name, then it's fine. I'd have no qualms about using my grandparents' name (as middle names), and there are royal names amongst them.

If you like it, use it.

Poppydaisies · 07/07/2020 16:28

Personally I dislike Archie or Archibald, but not due the fact that MM used it. I wouldn't let that put you off.

netflixismysidehustle · 07/07/2020 17:40

Only if it was within a year of the birth of my child.

Kaiisaclay · 07/07/2020 18:54

Is he even called a ‘royal’ baby now? Isn’t he just ‘baby’ ?
