What is your opinion of the boys name: Heath?

Just looking for thoughts really.

We like strong, slightly uncommon boys names but nothing too crazy/out there. Just wondered how it would be perceived on a LO.

Any similar names, or middle name suggestions appreciated!

It’s the sort of name I’d try to dislike, because it sounds a bit trendy and maybe celebrity-influenced, but actually I really love it. It’s full of character. A lovely simple sound, but weighty. I’d be excited to meet a Heath. I’d imagine a man named Heath would be kind, calm and rather gorgeous.

HPLikecraft · 30/06/2020 00:34

I like it. No ones been called Keith for decades, so I doubt there’d be any confusion there. In any case, Keith starts with a ‘k’ sound 🤷🏻‍♀️

Pieceofpurplesky · 30/06/2020 01:11

It's a great name.

Finfintytint · 30/06/2020 01:20

No. It refers to an area of uncultivated land. A bit thick with gorse and I wouldn’t want a child to be associated with something a bit thick.

Userzzz · 30/06/2020 01:44

Like it a lot!

jaffacakeany1 · 30/06/2020 01:49

I've known a "Heath" for over 30 years and he's lovely, so yes!

0DimSumMum0 · 30/06/2020 01:51

I love it!! Go for it

Zhampagne · 30/06/2020 09:21

I quite like it, but I have relatives who would pronounce it ‘heaf’, which I don’t like quite so much.

MikeUniformMike · 30/06/2020 10:34

Too closely linked to a prime ministe. Also, it sounds like Keith.

ZoyaTheDestroyer · 30/06/2020 13:04

Ted Heath is not a reason not to use Heath! He left office 46 years ago.

There are a lot of little Teds running around, along with a decent helping of Blairs and Camerons.

TheVanguardSix · 30/06/2020 13:05

It's great!

Thneedville · 30/06/2020 13:08

I love the name.

But be careful if you would pronounce it Heath but everyone else in your area would pronounce it Heaf, as it would possibly drive you mad!

Also as long your surname isn’t a place that has a Heath (eg Heath Hampstead not a good idea!)

WutheringShites86 · 01/07/2020 16:20

I think we are like minded OP! I can't use it for a child though, already got in there with my cats. Entertains me no end calling them in of an evening, very hard not to break into my Kate Bush impression Grin

MikeUniformMike · 01/07/2020 16:36

How many baby Thatchers?

The Heath/Keith thing is only like Everly/Beverley.

Trust me, people have strange hearing.
When a neighbour called her baby Shannon (guess how old she is now), I thought she was Sharon.

ZoyaTheDestroyer · 01/07/2020 17:02

Grin

I imagine that if there were a beautiful, tragic Hollywood star named Thatcher it would be rehabilitated pretty quickly! It fits nicely with the current trend to give occupational surnames as given names: Hunter, Archer, Cooper, Mason.

Sadly I don't think there's much hope for Brown.

Pemba · 01/07/2020 17:27

I quite like it.

Did you know Heath Ledger's real name was actually Heathcliffe? Apparently.

I wouldn't want to name a baby after Heathcliffe from WH. People might think of him as a romantic hero, but he was actually a bullying psycho!

Just Heath alone is quite nice though, a nature name.

WilheldivaHater · 01/07/2020 17:46

I absolutely love it!

PotteringAlong · 01/07/2020 17:47

I dislike it intensely, but I appear to be in the minority.

jumblersale · 01/07/2020 19:15

I was at school with one. Nice name.

MaggieFS · 01/07/2020 20:56

Anyone else think Robinson 🤷‍♀️

Seriously though, I do like it. Great name. Different, but not crazy nor faddy nor unpronounceable.

Hippocampe · 01/07/2020 21:21

Lovely. For baby, child, teen and adult. It's a really refreshing name

MikeUniformMike · 01/07/2020 21:26

Heath Robinson Grin. Wasn't it his middle name?

PetraRabbit · 01/07/2020 21:27

Ledger......

It's not my style but far better and more interesting than most of the surname names at the moment.

Why not?

Parkandride · 01/07/2020 21:28

Oooh I love it!

GemmeFatale · 02/07/2020 06:13

Really like it.
