Here is what I have so far.. I have a DS and all of these names in my opinion go with his name.

Boys

Kerr
Jax
Lachlan
Macauley
Adrian
Jude
Austin
Hudson

Girls

Wren
Darcie
Indi
Peyton
Sienna
Isla
Harper
Piper

I like all of these but I’m not sure I love any of them. But time is marching on, I’m due in August.

We’re in Scotland so Lachlan and the pronunciation shouldn’t be as much of a problem as it could be.

Macauley - no

UsernameNotValid · 28/06/2020 15:16

Lachlan, Jax, Sienna and Isla are 10 a penny here.

I like Kerr and Wren.

Notajogger · 28/06/2020 15:31

Many sound rather American as others have said. Not massively keen on any to be honest, Adrian and Jude are OK.
Ada?

Merename · 28/06/2020 15:33

Oh and I’ve just realised you are the surprise baby poster! Knew I remembered the username for somewhere. If I were you I’d choose a name that meant ‘surprise’ or something like that Grin

O yes! Hope all is ok OP.

Here's my tuppence worth:

Boys

Kerr nope - Simple Minds fan?
Jax - nope Jack would be nicer. This sounds made up.
Lachlan - v nice
Macauley - nope
Adrian - that's from my dad's generation
Jude - lovely
Austin - 6 million dollar Man. Don't love it
Hudson - nice

Girls

Wren - love it
Darcie - nice
Indi - no not with that spelling
Peyton - no
Sienna - no
Isla - ok
Harper - lovely
Piper - no

HTH Grin

VetOnCall · 29/06/2020 03:04

Kerr - no, doesn't sound like a first name. Keir is better but I now think of Keir Starmer.
Jax - awful. Basement Jax(x)?? Jack is a million times nicer.
Lachlan - yes, nice, especially if you're Scottish.
Macauley - no.
Adrian - Mole. Aidan maybe?
Jude - yes, love this.
Austin - 'Danger' Powers or Austin, Texas.
Hudson - not keen. Very American/popular dog name.

Wren - meh. It's very popular on MN but I find it a bit wishy washy.
Darcie - nice but prefer 'y' ending.
Indi - definitely not with that spelling. Massively popular dog name too.
Peyton - awful. Sounds like the mean girl from some American high-school drama.
Sienna - quite like this.
Isla - nice but very popular.
Harper - ok but reminds me of the Beckhams.
Piper - ok but not the nicest name.

What about Seth, Nathaniel/Nathan (Nate) or Alexander (Alex) for a boy, or Nina or Lara for a girl? Also like pp's suggestions of Tristan and Eilidh.

Ohshitx · 29/06/2020 08:44

Hi,

Yes it’s me. Blush

Thanks for all the suggestions. Just need to find a girls name I love, I could pick a boys name on the spot I think.

CarebearSt4re · 01/07/2020 00:54

lymphopenia · 01/07/2020 01:10

Jude was the German word for Jew and therefore written on the stars of david that had to be worn during WW2 by Jewish people so unfortunately I couldn't see past that. I do like it as a name otherwise!

Your girl names are lovely, especially Wren and Sienna.

frenchfancy81 · 01/07/2020 01:35

I only like Jude from the boy's list and Wren from the girl's but Wren is a bit too 'trendy' for me.
So hard to choose- it'll come to you! x

Pemba · 01/07/2020 05:13

The names are mostly very currently fashionable, so not particularly original and will probably date. Except for Adrian, and not keen on that, as a pp said I think of Adrian Mole, and it's a slightly wussy name anyway. But it's OK. Aidan is similar but better.

The only names I like on your list are Jude for a boy, Sienna for a girl. But they are very 'now'.

Austin - Powers. Hudson - hate boys names ending in 'son' anyway as they're obviously surnames. Hudson is a big cold river in the USA or the butler in 'Upstairs, Downstairs'.

Isla is OK but so overdone currently that it's become boring. It means 'island' in Spanish. Not as nice as Isabel/Isobel, or Iona. Wren is just a very dull sounding name for a rather dull little bird, I can't think why it's suddenly caught on so much as a girls' name. Indi is awful as a name, you just think of 'indie' music.

Anon0998 · 01/07/2020 05:25

Kerr❔ actually don't mind
Jax NO❌
Lachlan✔️ the best of a bad bunch
Macauley NO❌

Zippetydoodahzippetyay · 01/07/2020 05:33

Innes
Brodie
Cavan

Iona
Hazel
Kirstin

micc · 03/07/2020 12:16

Jax and Indi have my vote!

KW4816 · 03/07/2020 14:42

Crikey I feel like you're very brave to ask people to openly have an opinion haha, some people are quite direct! Grin.

I am early in my pregnancy but I think you should go with what YOU love, somebody will always know something or someone that puts them off it!

I think I would need to know the surname, but on face value from your list I absoloutely love Jax and Jude for boys and Wren, Indi and Piper for girls Smile. I would consider Jax myself if it wasn't for somebody I used to work with (not fond of) having it has a nickname. Our girl's name is Seren Lily, but we are definitely not decided on a boy's name yet! We have discussed and sort of listed Reuben, Rupert, Jude and Henry. We would like something not too popular but not too unusual either! Jacob was a front runner but we've decided against it now. The middle name would be William. Suggestions welcomed!

Very excited for you being due soon!

17caterpillars1mouse · 03/07/2020 15:52

I really like Adrian. That would be my top choice. I also like Lachlan and Jude. I really dislike Hudson and Macauley

For girls I like Wren and Piper. I like Indi as a nn. Isla is nice enough but very overused in my area

Whatsyourflava · 03/07/2020 16:17

Love Austin for a boy and Wren for a girl

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 03/07/2020 16:32

Love Lachlan and Austin for a boy. Isla and Wren for a girl.

I'm of the generation that links Adrian with Adrian Mole - definitely not a good association!

Have to be honest and say I really dislike some of your girls names. I think Peyton and Piper will date really badly....
