Thoughts on Lottie...?
Would you put Charlotte on birth certificate and abbreviate to Lottie, or just go for Lottie?

Yeah, it's a cute name when shortened. Like Charlotte too, So win-win situation.

NuffSaidSam · 15/06/2020 21:29

I absolutely hate this name. It's just that name that irks me for no real reason. It's objectively a perfectly fine name.

I would go for Charlotte on BC, more
options and less cutesy when she's a grown up.

missingmum · 15/06/2020 21:31

It's ok a bit twee, Definitely Charlotte on the Birth cert.

PaulinePetrovaPosey · 15/06/2020 21:32

I like it, but I'd go with Charlotte to give her choices. I have a name that can't be shortened and I would love to be able to chose a nn.

eleventy3isthemagicnumber · 15/06/2020 21:33

Love both names. Charlotte on the birth certificate to give her choices.

I go by a nickname of a name that can be shortened many ways. I've always liked that I have lots of options (but still use the NN my parents called me!)

sweetnosugar · 15/06/2020 22:05

I’m going to go against the grain here.

I love Lottie as a stand alone name, I know many little Charlotte’s and know many also in their 30’s. They get the nn Charlie, which personally I’m not a fan of for females. Maybe because there is many men named Charles in my family that have gone by the nn Charlie..
So yeah, I vote Lottie!

daisypond · 15/06/2020 22:16

Charlotte on BC.

MrsGilly1 · 15/06/2020 22:59

Hi,

If you are gonna call her Lottie then I would just stick to Lottie on BC as it a lovely name on its own.

My son is Charlie and Charlie on BC x

CharlieBoo · 15/06/2020 23:14

I love lottie!!! I also love Charlotte. I have a Charlie too but I never ever intended on calling him Charles so went with Charlie on the birth certificate. Good luck x

DramaAlpaca · 15/06/2020 23:16

Definitely Charlotte on BC. I do like Lottie, I don't find it cutesy. It's a hundred times nicer than Charlie as a diminutive of Charlotte.

littlealexhorne · 15/06/2020 23:32

I like Lottie, but I'd put Charlotte on the certificate just to give her options in future

Smellbellina · 15/06/2020 23:34

I love the name Charlotte.
Lottie’s fine.

ClementineTangerine · 15/06/2020 23:35

I really like Lottie but would personally put Charlotte on the BC.

I have a longer name that has a few different nickname options which has been great as I've got older.

Itslookinglikeabeautifulday · 15/06/2020 23:40

My DC is Lottie but we put Charlotte on birth certificate so she could choose when older, though always called her Lottie. She’s now 14 and hates Charlotte and often says she wants to change her name officially to Lottie as that’s what everyone calls her (and the name she likes).

123Dancewithme · 15/06/2020 23:44

Charlotte nn Lottie.

Stiffkeyandpink · 15/06/2020 23:50

Not a fan of diminutives on birth certificates. They don't age well. Too many Freddies, Alfies, Charlies, Teddies, Frankies. Not sure it's so prolific for girls names but Lottie is definitely in the doesn't age well camp

copperoliver · 16/06/2020 00:09

Charlotte on birth certificate. Then lottie. X

newreality1 · 16/06/2020 00:15

Charlotte on birth certificate. Then use Lottie. Both gorgeous names.

Enough4me · 16/06/2020 00:17

I think it's timeless, but go with full name on BC as it gives her choice later.

Kokeshi123 · 16/06/2020 01:54

Charlotte, please. I would hate to be a grown woman called Lottie! It's a perfectly OK nickname for a little girl but she might well choose to go by the longer version as she gets older, so only go for Charlotte if you are happy with Charlotte as a name too.
