DH thinks it is. I don’t.

Also what other names might we like if we like Arthur?

It's incredibly popular at the moment so I would associate it more with very young children than with old men.

FightMilkTM · 14/06/2020 08:14

Very, very popular at the moment. But as part of the ‘old man’ name resurgence. See also: Stanley, Reggie, Ronnie etc
So it’s old man and young child really.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 14/06/2020 08:15

I would say yes but I think the majority would say no as it’s so popular.
I also think it’s become slightly chavvy in its overuse.

NannyR · 14/06/2020 08:15

I agree that it's very popular at the moment, and I don't really know any older men called Arthur, so I think of it as a kids name.

AlexisCarringtonColbyDexter · 14/06/2020 08:16

Yes

Lavenderblueses · 14/06/2020 08:25

Yes a very popular old mans name. Like Reginald or Ronald.

userabcname · 14/06/2020 08:27

I know many babies called Arthur so it's definitely going to be associated with younger people soon!

ElizabethMainwaring · 14/06/2020 08:29

My cousin's 4 year old is called Arthur.

villamariavintrapp · 14/06/2020 08:30

It's my 80 yr old FIL name, so yes

MargotB7 · 14/06/2020 09:24

I know a young Arthur named after his Great Granded who is still alive. So both.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 14/06/2020 09:39

Theodore, Edward, Oscar, Oliver and Sebastians a plenty here in London!

RuthW · 14/06/2020 10:33

No it's a young child's name. Very popular in under fives.

katherine332 · 14/06/2020 14:10

I don't think Arthur is an old man's name. I love Arthur as a boy's name. I have 2 girls but if i ever have a boy i would name him Arthur.

Quizeerascal · 14/06/2020 14:14

It would suit an old man or a boy or a teenager I think.

MargotB7 · 14/06/2020 16:23

Why are people saying it's not an old man's name? It is both.

ShinyFootball · 14/06/2020 16:25

I know a few young Arthurs, is come around again.

Agree with others who say both!
