Ayala?

Hi,

What’s your thought on this name?
Sounds a bit like Isla/Ayla but much less overused. It’s a Hebrew name (we are not Jewish).

I think it sounds quite melodic.

What nickname choices are there?

Thoughts on the nickname aya? Or ally?

Thanks

I don't like it, sorry. It's just blah. It's 3 'a' sounds with some nothing consonants in between.

Ickabog · 13/06/2020 18:52

I don't like it, too many as, and I would have no idea how to pronounce it

Ay - a - la

Aya - la

A - yala

What about Alara? Think it's a Turkish name, very pretty imo and no confusion over how to pronounce.

Prettylittlelady · 13/06/2020 19:00

I’m not too keen because it feels like a bit of a mouthful to say. But I would say - it’s your baby and whatever you call her; it’ll be her name and no one will dispute it once she’s here.

june2007 · 13/06/2020 19:01

Ayala is a bit of a mouthful to say. Allalah or Alara is easier but the Allalah I knew called her self Leila as she said people coudn,t say er name right.

Yesterdayforgotten · 13/06/2020 19:04

Awkward to say and you will get alot of issues with pronunciation. I think it is important to choose a name you like and not just to be different as what is different now may not be in years to come.

Saltycinnamon · 13/06/2020 19:09

It’s a champagne house if that helps?!

PenOrPencil · 13/06/2020 19:14

I think it’s cute! Unusual but not in a contrived way and easy to pronounce. It works for a little girl but also for a woman. Go for it!

Purpleandteal · 13/06/2020 19:16

I think it's nice and like the meaning (some people might confuse it with Aliyah) It's also very common Hispanic surname the one reason I would I go for it, but the same can be said about Miranda :)

Ughmaybenot · 13/06/2020 19:19

I don’t love it if I’m honest, and found it a little hard/awkward to say.
Being honest tho, if you love it, go for it.

Pinkypink · 13/06/2020 19:21

I like it. It type of deer.
The ones I know pronounce it eye-ya-lah with emphasis on last syllable.
I think it will be a tricky one for people to pronounce.

justjessie · 13/06/2020 19:21

I don't love it.

Anara is nice?

mummyshambles123 · 13/06/2020 20:01

How about Azariah?

Wheresthebiffer2 · 13/06/2020 20:16

meh. Sorry not for me.

LavenderLilacTree · 13/06/2020 20:29

Is that Ay-ar-lar? I think it would get annoying for the child to have to explain how to pronounce it all the time.

MikeUniformMike · 14/06/2020 14:23

No.

PetraRabbit · 14/06/2020 20:47

There are too many really really similar very popular names out there at the moment- Amara, Aliah, etc etc.

Laaalaaaa · 14/06/2020 20:49

Sounds made up and too try hard.

Elouera · 14/06/2020 20:51

Sorry, I agree its too many A's and could be mispronounced. I'm not even sure how you DO pronounce it???

I prefer other suggestions, Aymara, Aleaha, Leila etc

Tartyflette · 14/06/2020 20:51

Ayala d'Ay is a very classy champagne house, if that helps. 😃😊

waterandsunrays · 14/06/2020 20:52

It's a very common surname amongst Spanish people so I can't really see it as an actual first name. That's only because I've grown up with it being a surname so it's like the equivalent of hearing Smith being used as a first name. It's my personal experience and opinion on the name though. I assume you're in the UK so people probably wouldn't have that perception of it.

On the other hand, I really do love the name Alaia which has a very similar vibe and sound

Snaleandthewhail · 14/06/2020 20:53

I work with one, and her name is mispronounced all the time. I don’t know if that’s worth considering as a factor in your thinking.

thattravelphotographer · 15/06/2020 01:22

I like it - I've never heard it before and think it's a very pretty sounding name. At the end of the day, only you and your partner's opinions matter though!

DeeCeeCherry · 15/06/2020 02:11

I like it
