Alliteration - does it work?

Can alliteration work if two letters, rather than just the first, is repeated?

Not the name but for example Lyra Lynch, Bronwen Brown or Rosie Roach. Or is it too much?

In general I think it depends on the sound.. Lyra lynch doesn't start with the same vowel sound so Id be fine with but not the other two.

To be fair though it does depend on the individual names.

GreyishDays · 12/06/2020 14:50

I probably wouldn’t. I think it really depends on the names though.

Destroyedpeople · 12/06/2020 14:50

Yes it can work have known quite a few people with alliterative names.

None of your examples work that well, but Marilyn Manson, Harriet Harman, Charlie Chaplin etc do

Enterthedragons · 12/06/2020 15:20

I personally love alliterative names

Ellmau · 12/06/2020 23:48

It depends on the names, but there is a tendency to sound like a comic character.

Wrong question OP. The real question is, do YOU like it? Then it's fine.

DS has the initials “AAA”, so we obviously thought it was fine! We use a nickname for him though, so don’t use the full name much.

Notredamn · 12/06/2020 23:55

I love a good alliteration.

Alliterative names always make me think of super heroes!

Peter Parker. Pepper Potts. Clark Kent. Bucky Barnes. Bruce Banner. Steven Strange. Scott Summers...

I think repetition of a sound is too much, but alliteration in and of itself isn't so bad.
