Aubrey for a boy?

Love this name(possibly) for DS2 but opinions welcome!

It’s really become a girls name
...and yes the only fools connotation

Aubrey SO is a boys' name. I'm struck with a silent, white-knuckled rage when I hear otherwise. So shoot me.

Love it, but DH is put off by everyone using it as a girl's name.

It reminds me of Aubrey Montague, the steeplechase runner in the film 'Chariots of Fire' so to me Aubreys look like a young Nicholas Farrell, and are shy, gentle, academic and posh.

Apparently (according to Wikipedia) he was actually'Evelyn Aubrey Montague' so both his first names are now mainly used for girls. He went to Oxford (not Cambridge as in the film) became a journalist and covered the Berlin Olympics in 1936 so obviously had an interesting life.

I love Aubrey; like a pp said, it feels warm and well-rounded. And not a bit feminine! What a lovely choice.

And this is why no, there aren't any unisex names. There are boys names which become girls names, and sometimes we're at the point of transition so you get both for a little while.

Use it. I absolutely love this elegant male name.

It's really horrible as a girl's name. Just sounds twee rather than classy. It's also incredibly annoying that once a name is adopted by Americans for girls that people feel they can't use it for boys.

Yes - it’s a boys’ name so go for it!

If people do assume it’s Audrey as a pp said then they’re just a bit stupid really, given that Audrey is a girls name, and your son is clearly a boy with a boys name
