Boston as a middle name (?)

Hello moms and moms to be... we are very excited for our newborn joining us in about two weeks. Yay!

we decided not to know the sex and keep as a surprise. I was wondering if it’s cheesy if we use Boston as our sons middle name to honour the city where my husband had proposed to me?

Can you ladies let me know on your thoughts? It’s so tricky with names and I don’t want to mess it up. We originally had Cyrus Chu. And now I was thinking of the following:

Cyrus Boston Chu
Wesley Boston Chu
Wellesley Boston Chu

for girl we have Grace as her middle name to honour my mom who passed away.

Robyn Grace Chu
Reina Grace Chu

thank you in advance!!

I don't think its cheesy though some people may assume that was where he was conceived. If you dont mind that I'd personally go for
Wesley Boston Chu and Robyn Grace Chu.

Congratulations!

You are flirting dangerously close to Boston Massachusetts OP.

BlessYourCottonSocks · 06/06/2020 15:42

Well it makes me think of Boston in Lincolnshire.

It's not the most exotic place in the world...

ILoveAnOwl · 06/06/2020 15:42

Both of ours have place names as middle names. People will assume that's where they were concievied (thanks Beckhams!), but if you love the name just do it!

Middle names are fine to be a bit more out there imo, you don't t have to use them if you don't want later in life. Far better than using it as a first name so if you like it go for it.

Have you chosen Wellesley because it is part of Boston? My first thought was an address - Wellesley, Boston, Massachusetts

tedster1022 · 06/06/2020 16:33

Hello,

Thank you for all the feedback!!

I actually didn’t think of Wellesley, Boston as an address. Good point!

If it’s a place of conceive then it’d be Wesley Toronto Chu. Lol.

Didn’t think of Massachusetts either.

I’m leaning towards Wesley Boston Chu.

Thank you!

Have you been to the original Boston (Lincolnshire) OP?

If you had you may not be so keen to use it as a name Grin

If you're anywhere near Lincolnshire I would avoid. If you're nowhere near Lincolnshire i.e. not in East Midlands then you're probably safe - I spent most of my first year at Uni having people wonder why I was from Boston but had an English accent as they didn't realise where Lincolnshire is, or that Lincolnshire has both a Boston and a New York.

tedster1022 · 06/06/2020 17:59

Hello @DemelzaRobins @TSSDNCOP
Never been to Lincolnshire. I’m originally from New York and married to Canada. Should be safe then?

No one outside of the family know people’s middle names, they’re really only ever used on paperwork. If you want to use Boston...then go for it.

DemelzaRobins · 06/06/2020 18:35

Definitely safe, had assumed you were in the UK. Second Boston is nicer than original Boston Smile
