Is it in the same category as Tracey or is it like Rebecca and Sarah and possible to use once more? 😛

I think it's dated. I see it as early 90s.
(I also knew an awful one who was a bully so I think of the name as ugly)

Pippilangstrumpfie · 03/06/2020 08:04

I like it.

TheVanguardSix · 03/06/2020 08:06

Christina is a beautiful name!

Why did you only apologise to Tracy parents and not us Rebecca or Sarah ones? Grin I want my sorry!

BubblesBuddy · 03/06/2020 08:11

I slightly prefer Christabel but Christina is fine. It’s not Christine and don’t change the spelling in an attempt to modernise it! It’s an infuriating trend.

NameChange84 · 03/06/2020 08:27

I used to think it was a nice name but a horrible bully, who as an adult turned out to be a teacher who got into horribly coercive sexual relationships with young students was called Christina/Tina. And I can’t not associate the name with her.

I taught an adorable little Chrissie a few years back which made me love that nickname so much I’d consider it for my own child but it would have to be Christabel or Christiana. I prefer Christabel due to the Pankhurst connection.

cctvrec · 03/06/2020 08:55

I love it but I'm biased. It's mine. Not Chris, not Christine not Chrissy. Christina.
The only downside is when people shorten or change it. It's not Christine. That's a different name. I do spend some time repeating "A. It's Christin-A"
Sometimes that doesn't work and I've no idea why.

cctvrec · 03/06/2020 09:00

On behalf of other Christina's I apologise for the bullies GrinWink. (I was bullied) and that nasty bitch landlady we had, also called Christina (though known a Tina) will not ruin my name. She doesn't deserve it. It's too pretty for snobby, obnoxious bitches like her.

PrimeroseHillAnnie · 03/06/2020 09:04

Somebody mentioned Nora !. Outrageous, - Betty , Queenie , Elsie, Dorothy, Margery , Pearl , Blanche , Sandra , Margaret, Vera. I have a colleague called Scooter , magnificent bloke too.

RoseMartha · 03/06/2020 18:28

I like it

CatkinToadflax · 03/06/2020 19:03

It’s my lovely mum’s name. She was born in the 1940s. She’s never known many others, and the mums of friends I knew when I was growing up were all Christine rather than Christina.

Pemba · 03/06/2020 19:30

I like it, it's a nice name and classic of course. Associations with the poet Christina Rossetti and Sweden's Queen Christina who Greta Garbo made the famous film about, and more recently actress Christina Ricci and singer Christina Aguilera.

It had loads of possible shortenings as well, Chris, Chrissie, Christy and Tina (hmm, not sure about the last two). Plus apparently the name Kirsty began as the Scottish short form of Christina so that's another option.

A good choice, and not over popular right now.

IndieRo · 03/06/2020 19:43

My DD2 middle name is Chrissie after her Great Grandmother. Her name was Christina but everybody knew her as Chrissie. My DD was born on the anniversary of her death so thought it was nice to use her name. My MIL however wanted her middle name to be Blue, can't win. Thought she would have liked us using her mams name. Confused

Immigrantsong · 03/06/2020 19:44

Not dated at all, as it's a classic name. Christiana is another version if this abroad.

LuxLuxLux84 · 03/06/2020 19:53

It’s lovely.

35andThriving · 03/06/2020 20:57

I think it's a classic Smile

123Dancewithme · 03/06/2020 21:20

It’s lovely. Christine feels dated but not Christina.

ladycarlotta · 03/06/2020 21:47

I find Christine dated, but Christina feels like a classic to me. Very pretty.

NCNina · 03/06/2020 22:00

My DD is Christina (20s). I have always loved it. I was in awe of a really cool Christina who was a few years older than me at school.
I was adamant she would never be called Tina, really don't like that name.

Everyone stuck to Christina until my younger niece could only say Nina.

So my Christina is also called Nina.

(Dislike Christine totally different name)

NCNina · 03/06/2020 22:04

Funnily enough Nina was on my list (Father of the Bride). It was vetoed.

I had no idea Christina would become Nina.

MikeUniformMike · 04/06/2020 15:04

I think Christina is nice. Classic.

Christiana is try-hard and too long. Christobel is ok but I woundn't choose it

17caterpillars1mouse · 05/06/2020 10:48

Refreshing, beautiful name that's due a comeback

Glitterb · 05/06/2020 10:52

@SephrinaX my name is also Kristina, gets shortened to Krissy or Kris. Although no one can ever spell or pronounce it! I get Karina, Katrina or Kirsty a lot!

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 05/06/2020 10:56

I like it. Classic. Makes me think of Rossetti.

Due a comeback!

Edenember · 05/06/2020 11:30

@whatausername classic rather than dated imo. I would be concerned about potential shortened forms, especially Tina, just because I don’t like them. I like Christy but not keen on Chrissy or Tina, but if you do it’s not a problem. In my experience people will shorten whether you like it or not, sometimes the only way to try to control it is to ‘own’ the shortened form yourself, in which case you end up not using the actual name you love.

Alyssum34456 · 05/06/2020 14:01

It's lovely and much prettier and more unusual than Rebecca and Sarah.
