LITHUANIAN NAMES-ANYONE LITHUANIAN?

My boyfriend is Lithuanian. Our son is going to be named Roman. So far,we love the middle name Tomas, and that is all that we have liked. There is a tradition in my family to have two middle names. If you are Lithuanian, please suggest some Lithuanian middle names.

I love Roman Tomas, but if you can think of something that sounds nice along with them, that would be helpful. Even if it just goes with Roman, that will still be helpful.

Thank you!

Please also bear in mind that I am English, and I am unable to roll my 'r' or pronounce really strong names correctly. I do not expect to get it completely right, but I would prefer if it different have several rolled R's in there,so I can at least try to pronounce it.

Mantas is my favourite boys name.

Can you not have a mixture of Lithuanian and non-lithuanian names?

Im not Lithuanian but my DCs have Lithuanian friends called Adomas, Domantas and Lukas (i think its Lukas rather than Lucas but Im not sure)

DramaAlpaca · 02/06/2020 02:02

Roman Tomas is very nice.

Could you mix the two cultures and put an English name in there as the second middle name, so it goes with your heritage too?

All my children have one Irish name and one English name to reflect their mixed heritage.

Lavenderblues · 02/06/2020 07:00

I would also suggest adding an English name to reflect your heritage.

Gabrielius?

Shankairen · 02/06/2020 10:21

Yeahh, that's why I chose Roman as the first name as I wanted something non-Lithuanian and then something Lithuanian. I guess I could choose an English middle name as technically Roman is Italian🤣 I just thought 'Tomas' was so English sounding & looking. When you say it it isn't too far from the English version, that was all. Thank you guys! I'll look at English names that would match too xx

I have a Lithuanian friend called Andreas which I think is lovely.

Twisique · 02/06/2020 10:33

Aleksander?

CaffiSaliMali · 02/06/2020 10:59

The only Roman I know is eastern European so my first thought was that your DS has two names from his father's culture and that you're seeking a third name from his father's culture, and none from yours.

Whose surname will he have? If the father's then I would try and find a middle name from your culture OP, or give baby your surname, or double barrel his surname.

Lavenderblues · 02/06/2020 11:33

Roman does not sound or look English, neither does Tomas. I too assumed they're Eastern European names.

Shankairen · 02/06/2020 12:56

Ahhh thank you guys!! It's used in England as a name a lot,but it's Italian because of you know Rome etc etc. I'll find an English middle name thank you so much 💗

Haha nooo! Baso all Lithuanian male names end in 'us' 'as' 'is' etc. You can deffo tell that it's not Lithuanian but it's deffo not english.

I think I might just keep Roman Tomas, what do you all think? I love the name😍 Roman has a meaning behind it which I won't go too much into and then we have a Lithuanian middle name. Last name is going to be dads though,so I was going to find an English name as so far he has Italian and Lithuanian😂 but I love how it sounds so might just leave it 🤷🏻‍♀️ it's so unique xxx

Natas?

Bananasplitlady · 02/06/2020 20:59

Nikolas or Gustas?

Roseburn · 03/06/2020 10:10

Roman is not Italian - it's totally Polish!

first syllable pronounced Raw ( like meat) not Roh.

EPGA2020 · 03/06/2020 11:33

How about Arnas?

daisypond · 03/06/2020 18:48

Roman is not Italian. It’s an East European name. Or it’s an English word for a resident of Rome.

xyzandabc · 03/06/2020 18:56

Roman means 'from Rome' in English. But it is not an Italian name and is far more widely used in eastern Europe and Russia than in England.
