Came across this and probably won't use it (as dislike potential nn) but feel so jaded by my search for names I like I wanted to share it as it's not one I've ever seen before.
She was a Native American in 1600s made a Catholic saint and known as Lily of the Mohawks. It's a native version of her baptised name Katherine. Pronunciation more or less agreed as Kateeri.

In my head it sounds like Cattery.

It’s a lovely idea but it doesn’t flow or sound feminine. It also depends on regional accents as well as it could actually sound harsh.

I’m a big fan of Lily though,

Lilybea1995 · 29/05/2020 22:30

Pronounced properly it’s nice but nobody would ever pronounce it properly! And with lazy speech, people would end up just saying ‘cattery’

BacklashStarts · 29/05/2020 22:31

Yes, I was coming on to say cattery. Sorry. Pretty looking name!

ARoseInHarlem · 29/05/2020 22:31

I’m sure it would be lovely in the right cultural context. I was waiting for the “-na” at the end!

NuffSaidSam · 29/05/2020 22:31

Go for Lily of the Mohawks, she'll definitely be the only one in her class.

I quite like the idea of a 'of the' name. It could be the new hyphen.

That's where my cats go on holidays!

IloveParmaViolets · 29/05/2020 22:56

Katerina sounds more complete rather than Kateri which looks like you've missed letters off the end.

DramaAlpaca · 30/05/2020 00:21

Sorry, but no. I immediately pronounced that as 'cattery'.

123Dancewithme · 30/05/2020 01:09

Yes, cattery.

gnushoes · 30/05/2020 01:13

Why would it need to sound feminine?
