We don’t know the sex of our baby, But we are so stuck for another boys name.
Ted is Edward.
I like traditional names, that can be shortened. I’m English my OH is Scottish and we live in Scotland, so we could use a Scottish name.

Options at the moment are:

Alfred (Alf/Freddie)
Ralph
William (my OH likes this name)

But we aren’t sure on any.

Anyone have any other suggestions? x

James

@ThunderR0ad78 funnily enough we were talking about James today. I love it... but worry it’s a bit boring.
@sweetnosugar I love Lockie, but it is the name of one of my sons friends, and we see them a lot.

Thanks for the replies. I like the suggestions, but still haven’t found the one. xx

If you like James, you could have Jameson for the longer name and then James as a nickname? Also, Jeremy (nn Jem) or Atticus (nn Atti)

ThunderR0ad78 · 29/05/2020 06:48

Haha, my son is James and I love it but I do understand what you mean about boring :) I sometimes think the same but actually we have been lucky and don't know many others his age (in his class or clubs etc) so it's felt a little less standard ifswim. I think it's classy!

My other names for him were:
Joseph
Matthew
Edward - his middle name (you can't use that obviously)

Sam/uel

Albert (Albie or Bertie)
Addison (Ade)
Arthur (Artie)
Jasper
Alistair
Rupert/Rufus/Ruaraidh (Roo)

@ThunderR0ad78 sorry! My review of James sounds so rude.
It’s just a bit of a family name, I have 2 cousins called James and my 2 nephews have it as a middle name. It is really lovely, and definitely less common as a 1st name. I just hear it a lot. x

@zafferana haha that’s the name I really want!
@Sk1nnyB1tch how didn’t I think of that! My OH likes Barney for... “have you met Ted?” (how I met your mother reference)

Some great names, and new ones I haven’t considered yet. cx

On another thread I suggested Edward as a brother to Arthur. I think they are perfect together. Ted and Art.

Socksontheradiatoragain · 29/05/2020 13:03

I do really like Willoughby, that could be shortened to Will or Bill.
Joseph (Joe)
George
