Thea is lovely!

SnowdropFox · 22/05/2020 16:35

Theodora Skye. There are 3 Islas on my street alone.

Elouera · 22/05/2020 16:38

I loved Isla10yrs ago, but its FAR too popular now.

I'm not a huge fan of Theodora or Thea, but if different and not common. I really love Skye, so Theodora Skye is my choice.

If you surname is longer, I'd go with Skye Theodora surname though.

emmathedilemma · 22/05/2020 16:47

Thea! Also love Isla but it’s got very popular.

LotusClover · 22/05/2020 17:44

I've always had a strong dislike for Theodora/Thea but I can't put my finger on why. On the other hand, I love Isla despite its popularity. I really like Skye and think it works perfectly as both a middle name and a first name. Not keen on Evangeline, too fussy.

I like Isla Skye, but that can't be used for obvious reasons Grin

I can't really pick between them. I'd say Theodora Skye flows slightly better than Isla Evangeline, but overall I prefer Isla as a first name.

Kneadtoknow · 22/05/2020 20:14

I loved the name Isla but I know about 4 babies recently who have been called that.

I really like Thea but prefer it as a nickname for Athena rather than Theodora

123Dancewithme · 22/05/2020 20:41

Theodora is lovely

Roselilly36 · 22/05/2020 20:50

I’m no help OP, I love both of the names, couldn’t chose between them.

CurlyEndive · 22/05/2020 20:51

Thea

Buttybach · 22/05/2020 20:58

Lots of Islas allready
Thea is lovely
There was a silent actress called Theda Bara
Which the name Thea reminds me of

SavoyCabbage · 22/05/2020 20:59

You can hardly move for Islas and Lylas and Lyras.

mais · 22/05/2020 21:01

I love Theodora but no one else in my house agrees - going with Isla, which I also love and isn’t so popular where I am yet (not in the UK).
A hard decision they are both equally gorgeous.

MinkowskisButterfly · 22/05/2020 21:06

Isla is lovely if somewhat popular.

I'm really sorry but can't stand Thea - that is due to knowing a Thea once upon a time, she was known as Thuggy Thea as she was a violent bully. Amd since that I just can't get past that to like the name.

I really like Evageline Skye

brads88 · 22/05/2020 21:13

Oh lots of chat! I do love both names...although am leaning towards Thea as I love the meaning of the name.

I do like Evangeline but Evie is very popular (and my ds has a name end -y) my dd also has quite an unusual name (outside top 100) so to do one very popular name (Isla) and a very uncommon name might seem a bit odd too.

I live in Scotland and Isla / Islay is incredibly popular.
Thea is lovely, but be ready for hearing “Fia” x

seriousandloyal · 22/05/2020 22:01

I prefer Isla, such a pretty name

ladycarlotta · 22/05/2020 22:05

I knew an utterly lovely little Thea. Thea short for Theodora is gorgeous.

sweetnosugar · 22/05/2020 22:27

Love Thea/Theodora.
Isla is been very popular where I live for the past 5/6 years, I loved it at first but now it’s everywhere.

Britannah · 22/05/2020 22:27

Love Theodora....actually think Teddy for a girl is super cute but Thea is also lovely xxx

DramaAlpaca · 22/05/2020 22:55

Isla, I don't care about it's popularity, it's so lovely.

Thea, on the other hand... I really hate this name, it sounds so weak and insubstantial and lispy. I dislike Theodora because I don't like any of the usual diminutives - Thea, Dora, Teddy.

Drag0nflye · 22/05/2020 23:46

Both are absolutely gorgeous names. Isla is so popular now though so I’d go with Thea. It also works across all classes and professions and has that classic but feminine feel. It really is a lovely name.
