Elowen I like as pretty and uncommon, but there are so many E names lately.
Similar theme?

I also loved Thea. My best friend took it last year. Blush

I also like Italian and Spanish sounding names.

So pretty but also makes sense on an adult. No old lady and overdone flowers.

Hit me up! Grin

I’ve always loved Igraine. It’s the name of King Arthur’s mother

OnYourMarksGetSetBAAAAKE · 22/05/2020 20:43

What about Thalia ?

I think Elowen is lovely, never seen it before but I like it a lot!!

butterflyroses · 22/05/2020 21:16

One of my daughters friends is called Elowen and it's lovely.

Does get shortened to Ellie though

I love Elowen, it was the name I'd use if having a girl. Except I was going to use Elowyn, so I could call her Wynnie for short.

I think you should use Elowen, such a lovely name!

ShellsandSand · 22/05/2020 21:38

@Spirali I have a Gia. She suits it so much. Sad to hear that it hasn't got MN seal of approval Grin

RJnomore1 · 22/05/2020 21:40

Elowen is pretty. Elwen too.

Just tell them you’re calling her ermintrude and stick to it. They’ll be so relieved anything else will be great once she is born.

Glitterbubbles · 22/05/2020 22:39

I think Elowen is beautiful!

Arwen, Anwen, Bronwen quite similar

Dalmore30 · 22/05/2020 22:48

Blanca

Edenember · 23/05/2020 00:48

@EveryoneLoves09876 Elowen is pretty. Elestren, Eseld are other pretty Cornish E names which aren’t very common. Eseld is Cornish form of Isolde and gorgeous, I think. I also love Theia as opposed to Thea but will be too close to your best friends little one. I love Tilda too although I think I’m pretty much on my own with that 😂 . My current shortlist is (E)erika, Eliza, Eseld, Freyja, Isolde, Ingrid, Rowena/Rowenna, Tilda, Theia.

Elowen is pretty.

I like Luciana, Lucia, Marianne.

Pennythinking · 23/05/2020 02:21

I would avoid Lucia.

I know a few and I’m always confused as some go by Loo-see-uh and other by Loo-chee-uh.

I like Elowen and haven’t heard it before. I also like Eleni.

Pennythinking · 23/05/2020 02:29

I just saw you wanted to avoid E names, although I don’t believe E names are overly popular. I’ve found A names are a lot more popular than E names.

How about Valentina, Bonita, Catalina or Susana?

rainbowmornings · 23/05/2020 02:52

@Blursula

I pronounce it Lucy-ah. (Emphasis on the CY) I'm spanish though, maybe the Italians (or somewhere else) have a different pronunciation (?). It is always, absolutely always said as Lucy-ah over here Daffodil

BikerChick91 · 23/05/2020 05:39

How about any of these; Clea, Cinzia, Simona, Antonina, Rafella, Aurelia, Cornelia, Pia, Paloma, Estella, Briana, Tiana, Liana, Natalia, Valentina, Lucinda, Flavia, Michelina, Adriana, Silvana.

Now for something completely different in terms of the countries of origin;

Elka/Elke (Pronounced the same way - el-kuh)

Aiste (Iced-uh)

Audra (Awe-druh)

Deirdra (Deer-druh)

Alexis

Gwen

Arwen

Morven

Wren

Elowen is nice.
If you love it, use it.
I don’t really understand the too many “E” names thing..! Names start with all letters Hmm

And stop telling people your names in advance. Everyone has their own taste and opinions - you can’t and shouldn’t have to
please everyone..

QueenofDestruction · 23/05/2020 05:54

Love my Spanish neighbour's daughter"s name Amaya

FergusSingsTheBlues · 23/05/2020 06:16

I had
Beatriz
Martha
As my girls choices... handmaiden tales has ruined Martha for me now but I still love Beatriz

KingPrawnOkay · 23/05/2020 06:19

Can’t stand this “took the name” business - call your child what you want! One of my friends is called Althea (Thea for short) if that’s different for you? Otherwise Elowen is lovely. Ellora sprang to mind as well, and Alea.
