Fred, to be frank.

LotusClover · 15/05/2020 10:38

Don't like either sorry, bit dated.

VisionQuest · 15/05/2020 10:39

Definitely Fred, or Freddie (Mercury?!)

Frank is awful (Butcher)

camelsandcaramel · 15/05/2020 10:43

For the love of god, not Frank! All I can think of is Butcher and no child needs that's. Fred is old school and modernly quirky.

heartonastring · 15/05/2020 10:46

My nephew is a fred. He is 2 and it totally suits him. Some family call him Freddie which my dsis doesn't mind but generally most people call him fred.

Windyatthebeach · 15/05/2020 10:51

Dgs is Freddie. Sometimes gets Fred.
Was after his maternal dgf. Really suits him..

SpockPaperScissorsLizardRock · 15/05/2020 10:53

I know both, aged 6 and 7. They are both cheeky monkeys but nice enough!

I prefer the name Fred personally.

Roselilly36 · 15/05/2020 10:55

I love the name Frank

weepingwillow22 · 15/05/2020 10:57

Frank reminds me of Frank Spencer. Fred is better but still dated and Freddie is overly popular. Sorry.

Whatsyourflava · 15/05/2020 10:58

Frank is cool! It's definitely coming back x

BeforeIPutOnMyMakeup · 15/05/2020 11:03

Fred is a nickname it should be Frederick, Alfred, Wilfred, Frederico or Manfred on the birth certificate. Then he can be called Fred or Freddy . (Freddie Mercury's full firstname was Farrokh.)

Frank should be Francis, Franciscus or Franklin on the birth certificate.

I have male friends born in late 1960s and 1970s with shortened names which are common nicknames. They have sometimes found it a problem particularly when getting job as unfortunately, it signifies their parent's social class.

Fred. Great name.

Peachbubble · 15/05/2020 11:07

I do quite like Frank. Lady I know has a son called Frankie.
I like Fred but soooooo bored of Freddie. My DD has 5 in her year

MrsVParker · 15/05/2020 15:14

Fraser

MrsVParker · 15/05/2020 19:14

Do many other people know a lot of Fred’s/Freddie’s?

Mixingitall · 15/05/2020 19:17

I know a Frederick, who was named after his great grandfather who was Frank Frederick Charles, we call him Freddie and his friends call him Freds. Frank and Freddie are both lovely strong names.

I only know 2 Freddie’s and 1 Frank.

ElsieBobo · 15/05/2020 19:22

I have a Freddie and yes, it’s quite popular, 3 in his school year out of a small class.

MrsVParker · 15/05/2020 19:42

How old are your children with many Freddie’s in the class? Hoping it might be in the out lol

Lavenderblues · 15/05/2020 21:58

Fred/Frederick is overused.

Frank is cool.

Lonan · 15/05/2020 22:00

Franklin is nice. Don't like Fred.

borntobequiet · 15/05/2020 22:02

Do you mean Francis or Frederick? If so, Francis (Frank).
