Twin Boys! We Need Names!!!

My husband, Gabe, is in the military and is adamant that our sons have ties to the military in their name. I however, am not so sure. There are names that we like, that aren't military related but any ideas as to how I could make my husband happy and tie in military linked names, I would greatly appreciate it.
At the moment, we really like the names:
Tanner and Lincoln
or
Asher and Matthew
Your help is greatly appreciated.

Nelson?

I’m a bit of an odd one but I would have something like Captain or Major as middle names with a more usual first name. I have a Lincoln myself and really like the idea of Lincoln Major and Tanner Captain.

Milo and Miles mean soldier.
Owen means young warrior and Louis means famous warrior
Harvey means battle-worthy

I really like Asher and Matthew for twins.
I think using a middle name with a warrior meaning would be good.

Asher Duncan
Matthew Lewis

(Both Duncan and Lewis mean "warrior", or thereabouts)

Are you American/British or from somewhere else? I think that makes a difference to what would be perceived as military names.

AnnieandGabe · 15/05/2020 13:28

I'm British but my husband is American

Ok, this is fine as an idea but it's more important to find names you just like for themselves rather than that fit a 'gimmick'. Because soon their names will be just their names and it's more important that the sound and feel of them is right than associations like that.

Also, it's a bit pointless I think if the name doesn't really strongly reference the military-? I mean - presumably Matthew has some military connection, but it's such an ordinary name that no one will get it-?

I would keep the military thing to middle names, then you could REALLY go for the military theme without giving them ludicrous first names.
