Love Cara! Or how about Clara or Tara?

missmouse101 · 12/05/2020 21:06

Cassie, Farrah and Cara are nice! Would you consider Cassia perhaps?

BruceWilllis · 12/05/2020 21:06

Grace
Lucy
Chloé
Cora
Penny
Nina
Cara
Freya
Jessica

I'll suggest Carla, Louisa, Naomi, Hazel

missmouse101 · 12/05/2020 21:09

I'm baffled by the Cora love around currently. It's so dreary and an OAP name (and sounds like a kitchen implement.) I've always loved the name Farrah OP, impressed to see that there!

doughnutmuffin · 12/05/2020 21:14

Thanks but DH has vetoed Farrah Sad
Sons name is Oisín and a few people have said I have to pick another Irish name but I disagree, not set on any type of name in particular

doughnutmuffin · 12/05/2020 21:21

Lol Apple Cora

Krazynights34 · 12/05/2020 21:29

I really like Cora, Clara, Dora, Flora, Cara and Caroline (which I tend to think of as being very similar somehow).
Also live Grace and Jessica
Other suggestions...
Avery
Merryn
Melody
Annie
Jodie
Jenny
Tabitha
Annabelle
Daphne
Bethany/Beth
Darla
Felicity
Ruth
Josephine
Joy

BabyDust13 · 12/05/2020 21:30

I love Erin and Ava

sorryiasked · 12/05/2020 21:35

Callie
Euly
Bethany

LizzieAnt · 12/05/2020 23:41

I like Cora.
Naoise is traditionally a name for boys. I know some people use it for girls now, but for me it would be like calling a girl Romeo or Tristan (though of course the legend of Naoise and Déirdre is not as well known).

stopandquarantine · 13/05/2020 00:16

I wouldn't always agree on names having to be super matchy but in this case I would say an Irish name would probably be a better match.

I feel siblings Oisin and Jessica just sound so out of place but that's just my two cents

Caragh I've always thought is lovely and the Irish version of Cara
Niamh
Cadhla
Nuala

Aclh13 · 13/05/2020 00:49

Grace - yes
Lucy - no but lucie maybe
Erin - common now but pretty
Mia -no
Emma - too common
Chloe - too common
Leah- pretty
Cora - outdated
Cassie - common
Penny - pretty could have penelope the long version
Abbie - pretty
Megan - basic
Naoise - pretty but might find it hard correction pronunciation

My list
Nina
Ava- pretty but quite common now
Cara- common
Farrah - reminds me of that teen mom attention seeker
Freya - ok
Jessica- common
Jenna - pretty
Serena - ok

Maybe as suggestions
Ivy
scarlett
Naomi
sinead
nevaeh
Lillie
Maisie

Destroyedpeople · 13/05/2020 00:53

I thint you should call her Roisin then you can have Oisin and Roisin. Sorry for lack of fada

Destroyedpeople · 13/05/2020 00:56

Honestly no offence but some of the names mentioned are so over used. And Ivy just sounds creepy to me.

babynamelover · 13/05/2020 05:21

Nola is beautiful similar to Nina goes well with your son's name ♥️

doughnutmuffin · 13/05/2020 07:52

I told my DH Naoise was originally for boys but it didn't bother him, I was more concerned about people knowing how to pronounce it, although we have an Oisín it's in the top 20 in Northern Ireland and so far I haven't had any issues with people not knowing it.

My DD's name is Cara! It's a lovely name, I still adore it. We also considered Tara, Zara, Clara and Carla.

From your DH's list I like Emma, Chloe, Cassie, Abbie and Megan. Not a fan of Cora as it makes me think of an apple corer.

From your list I like Ava, Freya, Jessica and Serena (and Cara of course Grin)

Don't like Nina or Naoise.

How about some of the other names we had on our list:

Faye
Casey
Amber
Jade
Maya
Halle
Anya
Carly
Eden
Zoe
Heidi
Caitlin
Nadia

doughnutmuffin · 13/05/2020 09:18

DHs favourite was Chloe, he also previously said he liked Renée and Esme so all french, not keen on Esme just because of the different pronunciations (Es-me and Es-May) not sure of any other french ones we might both like

Malysh · 13/05/2020 15:09

I like Erin and Naoise from your DH's list (assuming Naoise is pronounced Neesha ?)

And Farrah, Freya and Serena from your list.

Further ideas :

  • Mila (similar to Mia but much less boring imo, sorry to anyone who likes the name !)
  • Selena - I like the "moon" meaning and it's similar to Serena.
  • Sile, if you're considering irish names, I love how it sounds.
  • Siana
  • Seana/Shawnie in a similar vein

Or, if we focus on the names you already both like, Nina, Cara and Naoise, how about similar sounding names :

  • Lina
  • Mina
  • Dinah
  • Carina/Karina
  • Laetitia
  • Mischa (gotta warn you it's a male name in Russia)
  • Kayla
  • Calista
  • Anya
  • Sasha
Malysh · 13/05/2020 15:14

Forgot Tara, Tamara, and Tanya.

If you dig french names here's a couple you might like...

Julia
Josephine
Josceline
Renata (not french but similar to Renée)
Roxane
Alix
Estelle
Maëlle

PS - Renée and Esmee... Is your DH a twilight fan ? Confused

finallygottakeout · 13/05/2020 18:12

I am a Jessica and I absolutely hate my name, I loathe it. I convinced everyone in preschool and primary school that I only had one name (my middle name) and all my coursework only ever had my middle name on it, all documents and even awards I won only had my middle name because I went to great lengths to convince everyone that I was not a Jessica.

I would change my name if I could. I haven't only because it's so much trouble. My middle name has saved me as it's amazing and my absolute favourite and it's the only thing that has probably kept me sane. I would've had a horrible time if I had to live with only the name Jessica. I really don't know why I hate it so much but I do Confused
