Hi, I think we are pretty much decided on the first name, Amira. Which middle names would you recommend that are easy to pronounce?
Amira Alia
Amira Safia
Amira Sara
These are a few of my options. I am concerned that Alia will be mispronounced... I want the Ah-lee-ah pronunciation.
I am open to more suggestions. The meaning of the name is important.
Thanks! :)

Ayla ( the gleam around the moon) Pronounced Eye-la

Sara is better than than middle names beginning with A.

Amira Safia is too similar.

What about Maryam or Yasmin ?

@SultansOfSwing
I love it! Great suggestion!

I wouldn't worry so much about pronunciation with a middle name- people rarely say them out loud (the most common exception will be when someone asks your daughter what her middle name is, and then they'll get the pronunciation straight from her).

To completely contradict what I just said, I get wanting the name to flow nicely, and personally I don't love any of your options with Amira; the fact that they all end in -a makes the whole thing a bit rhymey/samey. I would prefer the flow of something suggested above, like Yasmin or Noor (such a gorgeous name). However, your style seems to be a bit softer/more feminine, so just pick what you like best!

BTW great choice with Amira; it was my favourite of your options! :)

I really like Alia and would pronounce it your way. (White British).

I was going to suggest Sahra, so Sara pretty close! I think it goes really nicely with Amira.

And as a PP said, middle names are not often said out loud. Alia is lovely too. And Ayla. And Zara.

LotusClover · 11/05/2020 10:53

Amira Alia is too similar.

Amira Sara doesn't flow nicely. I think it's because of the repeated -ra sound at the end.

Amira Safia almost rhymes?! Not good.

I would cross all three off the list and completely rethink it. How about:

Amira Ghada (means "graceful woman")
Amira Haddiya (means "gift")
Amira Inas (means "friendliness")
Amira Layla (means "night")
Amira Nawra (means "blossom")

DoctorBambino · 11/05/2020 11:08

I would mispronounce Alia to be like ay-li-ah rather than ah -lee -ah. I'd spell it Aaliyah. Safia is my favourite. I would go with that as a first name because nn Safi is adorable.

Amira Sofia (same meaning as Safa)
Amira Leila
Amira Jamila
Amira Camilla/Kamela

Amira Lulu (I know it sounds English but it means pearl in Arabic)
Amira Soraya
Amira Mursal (means rose in Persian)
Amira Vida
Amira Noor
Amira Tilla (means gold in Persian)
Amira Daria
Amira Nadia
Amira Hadia
Amira Fatima
Amira Selma
