Girls names to go with Noah

summersun7 · 10/05/2020 16:37

Since my last post I've done alot of thinking and I've decided to let Matilda go all together. I don't feel I can or should use it. And my friendship is definitely more important than a name.

So I come up with a bit of a short list:
• Amelia
• Daisy
• Violet
• Heidi
• Cora (Possibly too similar sounding to Noah)

Which do you prefer and why?
If you have a name you think might go better feel free to suggest.
I dislike names that can be shortened and unisex names for girls. I do tend to prefer common names.

Thanks. X

It makes perfect sense to match the overall style of name. Noah and Chardonnay just doesn’t go....

Doidontimmm · 10/05/2020 18:57

But why does it have to go?

Doidontimmm · 10/05/2020 18:59

Sorry not taking over the thread, and not being goady, just don’t know why siblings names have to match!

Ninkanink · 10/05/2020 19:00

Because otherwise it’s just wrong (Imo). And you’d come across uncultured for not knowing the different themes you’ve referenced.

Might not matter to some, but it matters to me.

My two daughters have the same syllables in their names, because that was more pleasing to me.

@Ninkanink Thank you. I totally agree. I feel they need to compliment each other and sound pleasing to ear.

Noah and Violet

Noah and Heidi sounds great. And Heidi Matilda works really well.

AllianceOfCorcles · 10/05/2020 20:05

Heidi is lovely op

VerityB1 · 10/05/2020 20:41

Amelia - yes very nice
Daisy - very nice esp when small goes nicely with Noah
Violet - sorry not so keen
Heidi - sorry not so keen (prob cos knew someone with name)
Cora - sorry not so keen

Have you thought of Natalia. I agree with the other person who said you could still have Matilda as the middle name as all bubble along nicely. Good luck!

17caterpillars1mouse · 10/05/2020 21:04

Out of those I'd choose Violet unless Amelia could be Amelie instead? Naomi was the first name to come to mind

summersun7 · 10/05/2020 22:08

Looks like Heidi and Violet are the favourites at the minute. Thank you for all who have contributed so far.
@17caterpillars1mouse Not really a fan of Amelie.

I love Noah and Heidi

summersun7 · 10/05/2020 22:10

@BathshebaAndGabriel Sadly I cannot find any biblical girls names I even remotely like. Yet I have a Noah and my boys name this time around is Jacob. I just adore biblical boys names. But not the girls.

Heidi with Violet in second place.

Aclh13 · 11/05/2020 00:36

Amelia - too plain
• Daisy- goes the best with noah
• Violet-abit outdated and common imo
• Heidi - the best name imo and goes second best with noah
• Cora -no

sundowners · 11/05/2020 12:00

Violet is probably the lest common name I know?! Adore it.

To Doidontimmm I'm amazed you've never considered this! When people ask you if you have children say you'll answer yess...and give your kids names. You often will write down and discuss both children. If the names jar/sound too similar/ or just do not flow/go it sounds odd.

Ninkanink · 11/05/2020 12:05

@summersun7 what about Leah? Although that is very similar to Noah.

1Wildheartsease · 11/05/2020 12:08

Nora ?

Twillow · 11/05/2020 12:19

Noah and Amelia/Cora - both ah sounds at the end, so no.
Heidi - obviously I'm not in the the same camp as most but to me it's twee and always says goat herder on the mountainside.
I prefer Daisy of your list.
One syllable ones are good with Noah too - Rose, Grace.

lobsteroll · 11/05/2020 12:22

Love Heidi and Violet, both would have been on my lists if they weren't used by close family and friends recently

babynamelover · 11/05/2020 12:25

I love Cora, hubby is Corie so too close.
Noah & Cora are lovely, both soft sounding but strong.
I like Daisy but don't know if it ages well.
Violet is okay I've just never found the sound that pretty.
