I’ve seen the more common ones like Alberta, Roberta, Thomasina, Theodora etc.

Does anyone have rarer suggestions? I really like the style of these kinds of names.

Orlanda. I met a brilliantly beautiful one once. She had real eyelashes like false eyelashes.

From my acquaintance, so not all so the male versions aren't all so common in the UK:

Joanna (Johan), Christina (Christopher), Claudia (Claud), Alexia, Alexandra, Andrea, Antonella (Antonio), Charlotte/Caroline (Charles/Carlo), Evangeline (Evangelos), Evelyn, Janet/Jana (Jan), Jeanne (Jean), Ludovica, Phillipa, Phyllis (Phillip), Valentine, Martina, Laura (Laurence), Samantha, Nicole, Stephanie, Carly

Further to @Maduixa's comment re. Scottish feminisations, -ella, -etta and -ana were also often add-ons. Donaldella, Archibaldetta, Kennethetta, Alexanderanna, Herbella, etc. are all genuine examples.

And as giving males (and often females) as surname as a forename was quite common, the daughters who were then named after them ended up with names like Smithina, Wilsonina, Grantina, Dicksona, Gordonetta, etc.

My favourites for awfulness are Murdochina, Andrewetta and Hugolina.

Jacinta is a girl's name. It's the same as Hyacinth. What would be the boy's name? Confused

Vinca is not the French for periwinkle, pervenche is. Vinca is the genus name. Anyway you get this a lot in French, mainly by sticking an E or -ine on the end: Andrée, Frédérique, Pascale, Pascaline, Paule, Benjamine, Bénédicte, Roberte, Raymonde... my favourite is Xavière.

So many really lovely underused names. There’s some that wouldn’t work very well nowadays ( good pet names though! ) but others are gorgeous.
