Hi,

I had a baby 3 weeks ago, we struggled throughout the whole pregnancy with names and the poor little boy still doesn't have a name 😩 we have narrowed it down to Henry or Bertie (Albert). I'd love to hear people's opinions on these names!

Thank you in advance

Definitely Henry.
Every time I hear Bertie I’m reminded of ‘Dirty Berty’.

lvra · 05/05/2020 11:34

Also, is Henry quite popular?!

Henry. It's the name I'd use if I had another son.

Bertie for Albert is fine though, definitely prefer it to Albie as a nickname.

Henry

My DS is nearly 4, know 2 boys called Henry both 3/4.

DS is Thomas, supposedly popular, never meet another one younger than about 16.

Henry or Albie as nn for Albert, but I like both! Congrats on your little one!

Peachbubble · 05/05/2020 12:18

Congratulations! I prefer Henry. Don't know any under about 10 years old now.

Mish85 · 05/05/2020 14:57

Congratulations on the arrival. I have an Albert and adore the name, so that's my pick! We thought we'd use Bertie as a nn but haven't really used one at all yet it's an easy name to say in it's entirety. We've had heaps of compliments on his name.

Henry - by far.
Bertie is loads better than Alfie if you use Albert, though

redwoodmazza · 05/05/2020 15:20

Our cat is Albie!!!

Congratulations!

I love Bertie, one of my favourites, but I would have it short for Bertram.

Africa2go · 05/05/2020 15:34

Albie is lovely and quite timeless, Bertie less so. My son (15) has a friend called Bertie and he's quite embarrassed about having what's perceived as a babyish name.

Henry would be my choice, much better for a grown up aswell as a child.

Whatsyourflava · 05/05/2020 15:38

Henry is really lovely.
You've asked if it's popular. I suppose it's all relative. Some people would think He ry way too popular as they're wanting to avoid the top thousand (1,000!) baby names. It just depends what sort of thing you're after. Henry is number 13 in the charts so there's 12 more popular names. It's on a downward slope numbers wise though so by the time the 2020 stats are released He ry will probably be much lower, maybe outside top 20. So it's obviously not rare but not top 10 either

AcrobaticCardigan · 07/05/2020 03:39

I love Albert.

Thepigeonsarecoming · 07/05/2020 03:49

Are you looking for names of Kings specifically? George, Charles, Edward and James also work if you are

CheriLittlebottom · 07/05/2020 06:15

Henry.

Bertie is one of those names that doesn't work past toddlerhood.

Mum2B36 · 08/05/2020 09:37

Henry x

I actually really like Albert. Are you any closer to choosing a name?
