Just wondered any thoughts on the name Hope?

Deep down I really think I'm having a boy so haven't thought too much about girls but this is one both DH and I like but I don't see too much on here

It’s very nice.

missmouse101 · 30/04/2020 20:18

It's lovely.

-lessly devoted to youuu

Hope is a nice girl name and fairly uncommon I imagine? Could be wrong though :)

dancingmama · 30/04/2020 20:26

Love it

orlarose · 30/04/2020 20:28

I'm personally not a fan of this type of name but there's nothing wrong with it.

LotusClover · 30/04/2020 20:34

I don't like it at all sorry, I'm not a fan of virtue names in general but this is one of my least favourites. The meaning is nice but the sound of it isn't, and I see it as more of a word rather than an name. Purely subjective though so go for it if you like it.

Cbeebiesrehab · 30/04/2020 20:35

Yes, I think I like it.

EventRider1 · 30/04/2020 20:37

I like it.

DennisTMenace · 30/04/2020 20:39

Absolutely love it. DS would have been Hope if he was a girl. It was the only girls name I considered for years. Won't get to use it now!

legallybunhead · 30/04/2020 20:51

It's my name so I absolutely love it!

Mucklowe · 30/04/2020 22:48

Lovely meaning, ugly sound. Same for Grace.

MysteryFrog · 30/04/2020 22:49

I love it (and virtue names in general)

averytiredmom · 30/04/2020 22:50

Beautiful

DramaAlpaca · 30/04/2020 22:52

It's lovely, as long as you have an accent in which it sounds nice. And as a northerner myself I'm going to say it - it doesn't sound nice in most northern accents, or in any accent where aitches are dropped.

mrsmoppp · 30/04/2020 23:02

Awful, along with faith heaven neveah all well used names the NICU

Quitthat · 30/04/2020 23:08

Lovely name!

Pp makes a good point about regional accents though... it would work well where I live (as I'm the commoner in a posh land, and everyone would pronounce it beautifully perfectly here), but where my family originate from it would definitely be 'ope.... (I'm now faux-posh, so pronounce my h's to fit in!).

Mallomarsh · 30/04/2020 23:14

Ah I like it!

bedtimebrew · 30/04/2020 23:21

I love it

Tavannach · 01/05/2020 01:40

Lovely. Simple and elegant.

babynamelover · 01/05/2020 08:04

Okay as a middle 😊

BikeRunSki · 01/05/2020 08:06

DD’s middle name, after the valley in Derbyshire rather than the virtue though.

I like it anyway, but in our local accent it sounds a bit “Erp”.

Marimari93 · 01/05/2020 09:11

Nope

Londonborncatty · 01/05/2020 09:14

I always wonder what happened within the family when a child is named Hope, so it has sad connotation for me. The only Hope I know was a very prem baby and that is why she got her name. For those reasons, I’m not keen.

SallyWD · 01/05/2020 09:29

Lovely and refreshing.

paerol · 01/05/2020 09:31

Love it actually! Not one I'd ever think of. Unheard of but not unusual when you do hear it!
