I rather like the name Cadence, but my DP assures me it’s... er... sort of the opposite of posh. Is it?

I know a lovely teenage Cadence, Cady for short, never been picked on for name and not chavvy at all.

Orphlids · 30/04/2020 18:25

In all seriousness, I do really like Cadence. When I heard it, I assumed it would be favoured by musicians etc, so was surprised when DP said he thought otherwise.

I like it if it's spelled Kaaydentz. Funniest thing I've seen in weeks.

IdblowJonSnow · 30/04/2020 18:30

Not keen.

The two I know never have their name shortened. Its always the full name even by their close friends.

Stinkyjellycat · 30/04/2020 18:32

Yes, English.

TheFaerieQueene · 30/04/2020 18:33

Dence or perhaps Dense to her friends. 🤣

PotterHarryWitch · 30/04/2020 18:33

I love this name, I think it has a lovely ring to it.

Just realised I totally need to ask you for help naming my DD in summer. She'll most likely be the last child, perhaps I should call her Coda?

BrooHaHa · 30/04/2020 18:37

There's one in Shallow Hal- a kid on the burns ward is called Cadence, I believe. I'd never heard the name before and it really stuck with me for some reason.

Stinkyjellycat · 30/04/2020 18:43

OP you may find this is interest. The number of girls in England and Wales named Cadence since 1996.

@mamansnet, I’m assuming you’d like something with a superfluous apostrophe popped in it somewhere?

If you'd asked me 20 years ago I might have said it was a nice name. But in the present day it just makes me think of Jayden/Kayden (i.e. the chavviest names in the world). If Coleen and Wayne Rooney ever have a baby girl this is probably what they'll call her.

mamansnet · 30/04/2020 19:16

@Orphlids Abso’frickin lutely. Grin

DH says if we can get an @ in there, even better...

Mucklowe · 30/04/2020 22:53

Reminds me of a valley girl who's trying to get into Phi Beta Delta sorority at a college in Iowa.

If I got pregnant right now I'd call dibs on Obscenity.

But I'd hope for triplets so I could also have an Obesity and a Profanity

MovingBriskyOn · 30/04/2020 23:02

I think I just like the -ity s Grin

TenThousandSpoons0 · 30/04/2020 23:05

I like it, definitely a name, way better than Constance/prudence variations

Mumthedogsbeensick · 30/04/2020 23:27

It's the name of the contact lens solution I use!
