Thoughts?

Would be pronouced SESS-ul or SEE-sul. I like both ways!

Love Percy ! It’s getting more popular (though still rare). 107 babies called Percy in 2018 in England and Wales and massively on the up. I don’t think anyone cares about the slang. Well, I don’t anyway. I’d use it

TeethingAgain · 05/04/2020 09:15

Have always loved this name!

Whatsyourflava · 05/04/2020 09:15

Hate Cyril, it’s still got the horrible harsh S sound

Ralph is an excellent name @Midnightdream are you still happy with it? Your new names sound quite different to me

Wolfgirrl · 05/04/2020 09:17

I dont think he would thank you for it, if I'm brutally honest.

daisypond · 05/04/2020 09:17

I like Cillian. But I fear it will be pronounced wrongly. It’s a very different style to your other names, though.
No to Cyril. The S sound makes it too soft for me. Names like Stephen are good, though.
Edgar?

Midnightdream · 05/04/2020 09:20

I love Ralph, I think that's why I'm finding it hard to find another boys name.

I had Stanley down but then saw the name Ralph but my partner does not like it as someone he nos has it as a last name Hmm

Yeh I really love Ralph too
Shame your partner doesn’t like Sidney - love that one.

Nathaniel/ Nathan / Nate
Laurence/Laurie

sqirrelfriends · 05/04/2020 09:27

No, has creepy vibes.

Midnightdream · 05/04/2020 09:28

DS or DD is having my last name, so I think a lot of names will click with it.

The more I say Sidney the more I like itGrin Marley is very soft! I like that.

Tbh I love all these names, lifted straight from the pages of Agatha Christie!

I love the name Amyas

( AM-ee-us)

TheGinGenie · 05/04/2020 09:30

I think of "Cecil was a caterpillar, Cecil was my friend"- rhyme from my childhood although I have no idea where it comes from

PersonaNonGarter · 05/04/2020 09:32

Cecil is great! I love it.

Midnightdream · 05/04/2020 09:50

@IdrisElbow Cecily is a lovely name. I prefer the girls version to the boys!

Francis?

midsomermurderess · 05/04/2020 17:52

I quite like it. 'SEE-sul' seems to be the American pronunciation. Look, add an 'ly' to the end and hoards of Mumsnetters would swoon over it.

MikeUniformMike · 05/04/2020 17:54

A bit noncey.

cheapskatemum · 05/04/2020 20:31

Love Cecil! Any boy called Walter, I think, would suffer from the “Where’s Wally” books, plus being called a wally isn’t a compliment. Sidney & Percy are also nice. I think Cillian will gain in popularity because of Cillian Murphy (Peaky Blinders). I’ve always loved Stanley because it was my Grandad’s name & he was a great bloke!

YippieKayakOtherBuckets · 05/04/2020 21:27

I really like Cecil - and Cedric.

user1493494961 · 05/04/2020 21:40

Awful.

Midnightdream · 05/04/2020 22:05

Mixed reviews but cecil is officially off the list. We have added a couple more now Grin. Giving my luck it will be a girl after the stress of finding 'the one name'
