Poppy Isabella or Sofia Isabella?

NooNooHead · 01/04/2020 23:48

I have almost chosen a name for DC3 who is due in 6 weeks when I have my elective c-section on 11th May.

I really like Poppy Isabella but now I want to possibly think of something different - I thought that Sofia Isabella or possibly Sophia Isabella are good alternatives.

I know that my DD and DH are both keen on Poppy as a first choice.

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.Smile

I would choose Isabella. It’s beautiful.

MsTSwift · 02/04/2020 10:12

Just be aware there are lots and lots of Isabel names and Sophie names. If popularity doesn’t bother you that’s fine. My first choice for dd1 was Olivia so glad I realised in time it was pretty much everyone else’s first choice that year too ...

PlantPotting · 02/04/2020 10:51

I love both namss

CaffiSaliMali · 02/04/2020 11:26

Sofia Isabella is nicer. Sofia and Sophia are more grown up sounding names than Poppy.

Are you pronouncing Sofia/Sophia as So-fire or So-fee-a?

MikeUniformMike · 02/04/2020 11:34

Forget the Isabella - it is just a middle nmae.

Do you prefer Poppy or Sofia and which sounds best with your surname? What will her initials be -if your surname is Sinclair-Smith, it could be a factor.

I prefer Sophie to Sofia.

Poppy. Love it Smile

Poppy is lovely and works well for both child and adult. Being called Poppy won't stop her running a business or being a lawyer. I find this thinking bizarre.

MsTSwift · 02/04/2020 14:07

It’s not a name that works on an adult

MikeUniformMike · 02/04/2020 14:10

It works perfectly for the adult Poppy I know.
Tall, slim, pretty, slim, nice hair, popular, great at her job, and her name suits her.

MsTSwift · 02/04/2020 14:17

Just my view. I would hate a cutesy name like that at 46 and think sounds ridiculous

Helpmefly94 · 02/04/2020 14:23

I prefer Poppy but Sofia Isabella sounds better as a first and middle name

Both are a bit ‘blah’ though if I’m being honest. Very unimaginative

Bezalelle · 02/04/2020 14:24

Sophia definitely.

Poppy is such an unpleasant sound, like ears popping.

123Dancewithme · 02/04/2020 21:42

Sophia Isabella. Poppy is so twee.

Obviously named choice is entirely personal, but a quick search shows that if is perfectly possible to be named Poppy and be taken seriously as an adult.

ofwarren · 02/04/2020 22:00

I prefer Sofia Isabella. Poppy is a little bit too cutesy for me.

MondeoFan · 02/04/2020 22:01

I prefer Polly instead of Poppy

I've never liked Poppy

OffThePlanet · 02/04/2020 22:10

I like Sophie Isabella. Sofia and Sophia both end in a and IMO names shouldn’t end in the same letter.

Goostacean · 02/04/2020 22:34

I know a Sofia Isabel. I prefer Sofia to Poppy, but prefer the Sophia spelling. It was a top choice of mine but we had boys Smile

LucyMaxwell22 · 02/04/2020 22:39

My daughter is Isabella Sophia

user1471453978 · 03/04/2020 19:45

definitely prefer Poppy xx

ThinkPink71 · 04/04/2020 09:22

Poppy :)

userabcname · 04/04/2020 10:01

I like both but prefer Poppy. If it helps I know an extremely glamorous woman called Poppy (she's a model and married to a millionaire!) so I don't think it's too cutesie at all - well, it certainly hasn't held her back!

daisypond · 04/04/2020 10:06

I like Poppy. It’s a flower name and no more demeaning than any other flower name, like Rose or Iris. I’d spell Sophia, not Sofía. Isabella is nice and goes alongside either Poppy or Sophia fine.

RestaurantoffBroadway · 04/04/2020 11:29

If based mainly in UK I'd go for Sophia as Sofia is the more unusual spelling and might be annoying to have to keep correcting.

MissSmiley · 04/04/2020 16:29

I know if an woman at university who changed her name from poppy to something else because she hated it so much

Sofia is much nicer
